Toe Reduction

Hi,
I have a disproportionately long 3rd toe and it bothers me a lot orthopedically and esthetically.
Is toe reduction common in orthopedic surgeries? What is the healing period and the approximate cost?

Thanks a lot.

Thanks for your reply,

My big toe, 2. and 3. toe are all the same length and about 2 inches long. I always get blisters and bumps. I can never wear pointy shoes and never open toe shoes or flip flops. Imagine how hard this is living in Florida :) I feel really self conscious.
I read mixed blogs about this, some say it is an easy and common procedure, some say very unnecessary. And, how much is the cost?
Thanks!

Hello Dear,

Cosmetic toe surgery involves making small incisions, cutting a piece of bone out of the joint and reattaching the tendon.
You should decide on the surgery based on the discomfort it is causing. If you can still live with it, its well and fine.
How much is the length? Does it feel really troublesome?
How does it compare in the relative size with the other toes?

Answers to these questions would help to ascertain the judgement for surgery better.

Best.
