A couple cyst questions

Ok I have posted a question on here and only one person answered.. I have been very worried about a couple things and would really like it if anyone can help answer my questions.. I have 2 very large cysts on each ovary the size of newborn baby heads, the last ultrasound I had they couldnt see my ovary and might have severe endometriouses. The questions I have are... Are cysts inside the ovary or on the ovary? What exactaly is complex cysts? Is being in pain before my period and after my period normal? Is it possible that ovarian cysts can make you gain weight? Are my chances of having a hysterectomy high because the size of the cyst and if i have severe endometriouses? After a Laparotomy what are the best things to eat? That is all the questions that I have on my mind as of the moment... Thank you for reading and hopefully someone can help me :)

Cysts can be either on or inside the ovary. It depends on the type of cyst but there are always exceptions. Sometimes the whole ovary can be wrecked, other times it is possible to just remove the cyst and leave healthy ovary.
A complex cyst is a cyst containing both solids and liquids. For dermoid cysts the solids could be hair, teeth etc, for cystadenomas it would be mucus.
I dont know what is "normal" period pain, I think it is most common to have pain just before/first few days of the period, but I believe it is abnormal if it lasts much longer than 3-4 days. Cysts can cause pain as well. I guess you will need to compare your pain to what you had before you got the cysts.
You really need to chat your surgeon about hysterectomy vs cysterectomy and everything in between. I see you are 25, so the surgeon ought to do his/her best to save what s/he can of your reproductive organs. The ovaries play a huge part in your physical and mental well being, not just for conceiving. The womb doesnt produce nearly as many hormones, but you need it if you want to get pregnant. Personally I would make sure to keep the womb and as much ovary as possible.
Cysts can make you gain weight (the weight of the cyst(s) themselves and bloated appearance). I ended up loosing weight due to eating problems caused by my cyst. If the cyst cause hormonal problems I guess it could affect your weight as well.

I was on liquid food after my laparotomy, started eating solids when I could empty my bowel on the 4th day post op. Soup, jelly and ice cream! A bit of porridge is manageable as well. You may be able to eat more solids or start eating sooner than I did though, I was in a bad state.

Good luck, I hope everything goes well
