Thank you Sandy!
It's good to hear you feel much better now and I really hope this will be my case soon.
I have another appointment with my gyn next week and I'll ask for further investigation and another ultrasound in a month or two. I can't wait 6 months for sure. If she still insists I should wait and not do anything, I'll just find another doctor.
All my best to you, too!
Just to put my 2c in ... I totally agree with everything Trudie has mentioned . I also feel that 6 months is too long. When I had my cyst back in December, they suggested monitoring it for 3-4 months.. not 6.. So I would definitely request this. I ended up having the surgery instead because of my age.
I don't know why Dr's insist that these cysts are not painful. Mine was small, and I was told the same thing. The pain was dull, sometimes "throbbing" . I was checked for Diverticulitis which has similar symptoms.. nothing there. I had the Laparoscopic surgery to remove the ovary and tube.. . The pain still was a little noticeable for a few weeks.. then voila... no pain !! None.. gone... Amazing that this "pain" that had nothing to do with the cyst miraculously disappeared when the cyst & ovary disappeared...
Please keep us posted and hope you feel better soon...
Take care,
Sandy
Thank you for your response Trudie!
I knew my symptoms must be somehow related with the right ovary because of what I feel, and I know my body. I was surprised when, after the pelvic exam she told me there was nothing. I was even more surprised when she saw the cyst and kept saying the symptoms have nothing to do with that.
I'm 39 and I never had any problems with my menstrual cycles. Surprisingly, I feel better (no more pain and less frequent urination) during the first two days of my period.
I'll definitely go and ask for another doctor's opinion and keep you posted.
All my best to you!
I'm so sorry you have such an uncompassionate doctor. Yes your symptoms are related to the cysts. See the health pages (top right) for more info on types of cysts and symptoms. Good for you for being diligent on getting these diagnosed. Do keep in mind that over 95% of all cysts are benign.
You haven't filled out your profile so have no idea how old you are or if you are pre or post menopausal. It is normal to wait a bit to see if cysts resolve on their own but 6 months is too long and in my opinion a complex cyst should be watched more closely. I would suggest you take some of the info here back to your doctor and insist that she rule out ovarian cancer. Or, perhaps you need to change your doctor.
Good luck and please keep us posted.
