Thank you all for your thoughts and concerns. I will probably be blogging again after the CT scan next week.
My heart goes out to you - you must be so scared right now! My prayers are with you!
I don't have any information to offer at all, but I can't help but think that if they were worried about this being cancer, they certainly wouldn't have you waiting a month to see a surgeon. My cousin's little boy was in surgery within about 48 hours of the discovery of his brain cancer - he's doing wonderfully well now, but my point is that they took care of it IMMEDIATELY. I've had similar experiences with mammograms - usually you just take the next available appointment, which might be a month away, but if you have a lump they fast-track you and you get in within days. So it seems like it might be a good sign that your baby's doctors aren't in a big hurry.
Please keep us posted! Some day, when this is all settled, your story might help calm another worried parent searching the Internet.
i pray all is well with ur daughter at the time of her consultation
i am not a current practicing medical professional just a caring mom
the long wait to see the surgeon may be to see if the mass reduces on its own to save her from having surgery ... neonatal ovarian cysts are one of the few non functional cysts that can reduce on their own ... i think the percentage is really high like 98 % ... if they dont reduce or "shrink" the risk of leaving them in is torsion ot "twisting" of her fallopian tubes ... which ur daughter will exhibit the symptoms of extreme colic .. go to the er and page ur surgeon immediately.
i know u are in a frightening place right now ... but please do not fear ... empower yourself/educate yourselves about every aspect ... right down every conceivable question (even if it seems silly or unrelated ask anyway) ... have the doc explain all risks very clearly to u as surgical risk is different for each individual ... get a second opinion in the meanwhile ... talk to other people and just love and cherish ur daughter ... she is blessed to have parents who care for her so much ! Oh i almost forgot ... post this question in the ovarian cancer "ask an expert" forum ... now just saying that doesnt mean cancer ... she is very well versed in all areas of gynecologic surgeries ... it takes a few days for her to respond so please keep checking back
i keep ur daughter and her beautiful parents in my prayers
