Get that referral to the GYN doc. I doubt you'll convince the GP of anything. This type of thing should be handled by a specialist anyway.
Yes, some GP's just don't get it. I had an on call doctor tell me that the bloating and pain I'm experiencing could not be due to the ovarian cyst (16 cm) and uterine fibroid I have. it was so wonderful to finally get to a gyn whose staff were so sympathetic and on the ball. Don't let the GP fool around with your health!
Good luck,
Trudie
You should have that referral to a gyn and take copies of your scans with you. Let us know what happens! Colleen
to dr_Logan,
You have been reported and hopefully, banned from this site and any other site you are promoting on!!!
Way To Go !!!!! That post was abominable and irresponsible from that "Dr."
What's all this about dr_Logan? I'm new to this site but all sounds a bit iffy!
Hi,
As all the above have said (except that irresponsible "Dr".).. Get yourself to a gyn ASAP.. Now, I don't mean to frighten you, but this needs to be checked out. More than likely, all is fine.. but you need to have it investigated further. Unfortunately, one of the signs of ovarian cancer is bloating. Now, I'm not at all saying that is what is wrong, but you must have a Dr. that will rule it out.. We all need to be pro active about our health. And keep us posted...
Best ,
Sandy
Hi,
Im from the Uk also and was fobbed off for 18 months!!! . Unluckily for me I was finally diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Change doctors now, if you are not being listened to , its very imporant to have the necessary tests to rule ovarian cancer out .I don,t want to scare you but you will have to be insistant about this . Remember though that 95% of cysts are benign and share some of the same symptoms as ovarian cancer
Good luck Angie
Thanks all for your replies. With regards to ovarian cancer, I have a friend whose mum died of that and she was the one who prompted me to see my GP. As well as having had the transvaginal scan, I also had blood tests. All bloods came back normal. However, I do not know if this means that it's not ovarian cancer? Anyway, to add to it, I have endometriosis and have suffered for years. 6 years ago, following a laser laparoscopy, I was told that I had it on my lower bowel. I am therefore assuming that the cysts I have are endometrium cysts - although, again my GP has not confirmed this. Bit worried about her insistence that I exercise though as have been reading up and now realise that its possible to suffer from ruptured cysts which cause even more complications! Still no letter from hospital, will chase GP tomorrow and if she has still not referred me then I think I will change my GP.
Would like to add that its been very refreshing to know that there are others out there that care. I've never been one for these sites but have found it helpful to hear from others in similar situations.
Thanks again all and I'll keep you posted. And good luck to you all in your search for answers. x
Hi , I had extensive endometriosis that went undiagnosed for years , it eventually turned into malignant endometriosis and ovarian cancer . This is a rare condition but it does happen that is why I say to you , don,t play the waiting game as I did . You know your own body and if your symptoms get worse be insistant and find a doctor who will listen to you .
Take care and Best wishes Angie
Piggy277,
To answer your question, I just happened to log on yesterday morning and a "supposed Dr. Logan" had posted on 3 of the posts (this was one), some stupid message that really he was promoting his own website and I reported it to Medhelp. It was then deleted, so you probably never saw the original message.
I have had the run around from my doctors and I am in a similar situation as you, with the bloating, cysts and other symptoms. PLEASE make your GP give you that referral to a gyn and get in there as soon as possible and take your results with you. As Angie said, most cysts are benign but you need to know for sure.
Take care,
Colleen
