opinions and suggestions welcome

Hi everyone,

Two nights ago, I was lying in bed getting ready to go to sleep. Suddenly three of my toes (not my baby toe) on my left leg felt really weird. It felt like they were going into spasm. It lasted for less than 2 minutes. Later that night I
was sleeping and I felt kinda like a jabbing pain in my calf of my left leg. The pain woke me up. It wasn't that
severe just enough to get my attention. I have experienced that pain in the calf of my right leg, very short duration,
occasionally in the past. I'm not really concerned about it. I would just like to know what might be going on.
I'm in my mid to late fifties. I have neck issues from being rear ended twice a number of years ago. I get regular
chiropractic adjustments. The toe spasms are new. Any ideas what might be going on ? Any suggestions of what
to do to prevent them ?  Eve  ( my nickname on this site is Evewisewoman)

Hi om,

I will definitely mention what happens occasionally to my toes, ie. the toe
cramp thing and the leg cramps I sometimes have. I could bring up the
subject of an MRI as possibly being helpful and see what she says.
Hope you're doing well, om.   Eve :)

Hi grandtrine,

Thank you very much for your observations and suggestions. Yes, I was
rear ended twice within three years. The first time by a mother reprimanding her child by turning around and speaking to him and not
watching where she was going and crashing into me. Luckily I was
standing still as I had just parked and was about to get out of my car when
she crashed into me. She admitted she was at fault. Big deal. That was the
first time I was rear ended. The second time it was remembrance day , three years later. I had just pretty much recovered from my first whiplash
incident when I was rear ended again by a pizza car and got whiplash
a second time. Your idea to have an MRI is a good one. The next time
I go to see my family doctor, I will talk to her about the possibility of having
an MRI. Your comments are appreciated. Eve

Hi om,

You make a good point. I'm wondering if wearing my sandals when I
went for the neighborhood walk with hubby caused the toe thing the
other day. I usually wear running shoes on these walks as I wear
orthodics in them. On future walks I will always wear my running shoes.
It also gives my feet more support. Cheers, Eve :)

yor welcome eve...if you find that these other issues your pursuing arent working..i would first see a doctor..but since you've had car accidents i would seriously consider an MRI on your cervical area...the most revealing is from the top of your head straight down your spinal cord..to see if there is any type of narrowing that may be constricting your spinal cord from creating its normal space...its like pressure or chrushing you cord..this causes the leg and toe issues.....and for your new found pains its usually from us favoring one area to protect the injured area..and unknowingly it creates problems because your making your body due something new and its trying to adjust...i hope im totally wrong but if not..it will become worse with time...good luck

Hi om, i never thought of a calcium deficiency. i haven't taken my calcium
supplements for awhile. i will start taking them today and see if that helps.
you said think hard about what I might have done differently. actually,
i did take a longer walk around the neighborhood and i walked in my
sandals, i usually wear running shoes when i go for a walk. so you get
the toe thing too i.e. cramping. not fun, is it ? anyway, thank you for the
suggestions, om. it is very appreciated. eve :)

i can only offer you general knowledge...the cervical spine controls the legs n toes...i have cerveical spine issues and the 2 toes left of my big toe are numb..and when i kneel on the floor and the toes bend they cramp up and lock in a curled posistion..i have to pull them up manually....but that my personal expierience....its basically normal unless it get worse then see your doctor

hi eve--------calcium deficiency?..........and  think hard about what you might have done differently the day before----a longer walk-----a slight slip----any change.....just a possibility eve...and i get the toe thing ---if you mean like cramping or curling in-----who knows where from.
Ummmm....you could have ARS! Yes. It could be the dreaded "age-related stuff" with age-related symptoms-----ya know?
