PCP called

I will try to type this the best I can. My PCP called and they said they won't treat me til my pain dr comes back. She said she was sorry oh that makes it all better. If I get worse to go the ER and we all know how they treat CP people. So I called my pain dr crying they had to put me on hold so I could calm down. Then she could finally understand me and she said my PM dr is still out of the country and never started treatment yet so there is nothing they can do and to call my PCP I told them I have and they won't treat me anymore and she said well they are going to have to cause your not sleeping or eating I said yea tell them that. So I called and left another message for my PCP saying I called the pain dr and they can't treat me til he comes back and they said for me to call you and let you know that i need treatment since I can't even eat right now cause the pain is so bad. I am so lost right now and I have no where to go or anything to take. I know my PCP said she won't treat me so I am going to have to suffer til July 26th. I give up til then, I don't think I can last that long going without food or sleep but I will try my best.
Thanks for listening

(((((HUGS)))))  Again, I'm so sorry you're having to go through all this.  I wish there was something I could do to help you be able to find someone, anyone, who will treat your pain - not only treat IT, but treat YOU the way you deserve to be treated - with kindness and respect.  Nobody should have to go through what your PCP is putting you through right now.

I know it's extremely difficult for you to eat, but I also know you know how important it is to try and keep up your nutrition.  If you can't handle even soft foods (I understand how even chewing those would make your pain worse) - have you ever tried the meal replacement or protein shakes?  Or even Carnation Instant Breakfast?  I know they aren't the most tasty things in the world (the shakes anyway - the instant breakfast isn't all that bad actually), but at least they would give you SOME kind of nutrition.  Jello would also be a good option - you don't even have to chew it - just kind of let it melt in your mouth.  Of course, gatorade is also always good to help keep your electrolytes up.  Even just little sips of something often - you dont' have to take in a lot at one time - just so you're geting something to keep up your strength.  As you already know, when our bodies are weaker, our pain gets worse.

One last idea I just had - can you call your local hospital - ask if they have a physician referral service (usually a free service) and see if you can get any names of PCP's in your area that you could call to try to get in to see sooner than you can to the pain doc.  I honestly feel that you need to find another PCP becaus this one definitely does not have your best interest at heart.  You don't need to go into all the details with the physician referral service as to why you're looking for a new doc - if they ask, just say you're not happy with the care you're currently receiving.  Save the explaining for any new doc that you may be able to get in to see.  If you are able to find a doc that has an opening, I would explain the situation to the office BEFORE you make the appointment - only reason being is to save yourself the same frustration you had with this other pain doc - going in hoping and praying that he would treat you and basically being slapped in the face when he says that he won't.  Not only then are you out of money for the apointment, but you're also more frustrated than before because you thought you were finally going to get some help.  Let any new doc's office know that you can provide whatever documentation they need/want to show that you are under no contracts with any docs for pain meds and you are more than willing to see a pain doc, but you simply cannot wait three or more weeks to be seen by one.

Oh Jamie:  Why does this just keep happening to you??  I don't understand why some of us have found such good doctors and you keep being bounced around like a ping pong ball.  Whatever the reason it is beyond unfair.   And I promise to pray for you tonight. I'll pray that God sends an angel to you in the guise of a doctor who will adequately address  your pain.

Please know that my most fervent hope and best wishes go with you tomorrow in your never ending search for pain relief.  Surely someone out there will listen and do the right thing by you.

Thanks, i will call the hosptial in the morning and see what can be done. I know I can't go on like this for a few weeks let alone a few days. I will pick up some insure I was on that before when I was getting stitchs all the time. I just know i am going to start getting sick and fast since I can't eat or sleep. I don't get it at all. If these drs could only go ONE day of pain that we feel everyday they would see what we go thru. I wish I was magic so that could happen, heck a really bad tooth ache would show what I go thru but make it 50% worse then a tooth ache cause I also have alot of pain right under my eye.
Thanks Alot

I can't go to the dentist that messed me up cause he got picked up for DUI and had to leave my state fast so the dental board didn't find out about the DUI. And I can't go to any other dentist cause I don't have any teeth where my pain is so they will only laugh at me. I can't go to the urgent care cause last time I was there the dr told me he can't help me at all while I was crying my eyes out and told me when I pull myself together I could get up and leave. You all had great ideas. I can't go the nerve speicalist cause I called and he is booked and I could see the PMP faster. The only other dr in my PCP office is her partner so I know he won't treat me, he don't like to give out pain meds period.
I just hope my PCP is able to go home after work and play with her kids and eat her dinner and able to get a good nights sleep with no problems. And I also hope that she feels guilty for putting me thru this since I can't eat, I can't sleep and I can't play with my kids. Im sorry but that is how I feel. It don't matter if the food is soft the movement of my mouth to eat is what hurts. No OTC meds are helping me. I haven't ate all day and I am hurting anyway. I am trying not to talk to much either but I have to do my best so my kids won't worry.
I don't see how my PCP can sit there and say "Sorry but I am done treating you, I told you only short term" when she knows I can't eat. If I die from lack of food it will be on her hands which I really don't think she cares anyway. 3 weeks 3 darn weeks is all I asked for til I see the pain dr. I didn't plan for him to go on vacation, I didn't plan for any of this to happen. the pain drs nurse said my PCP needs to help me thru this until they are able to see me when my PMP comes back into the country. I don't get how she can sleep at night knowing how much pain I am in. I dont' think doctors should be aloud to treat people unless they show they have a heart.
My PCP knows I have kids, she knows I have a job she knows I have a husband but still she don't care if I live in pain for 3 weeks.
I have no where else to go, no more options so I guess I will do the best I can and when I faint and end up in the ER cause I am not eating I will make sure they know that my PCP won't treat my pain so I can't eat that is why I am so sick.
when I call her office and leave a message and crying so hard I can't even understand myself they should know how much pain I am in, I told them I have no where to go, no one to treat me for 3 weeks.
My last message to them and this will be my last went like this
"I called my pain dr, they said since he is not even in the country and he hasn't even started treating me there is nothing they can do to help me and for me to call my family dr to try get her to help  they will even fax a letter to her telling her that I am not being treated and please for her to treat me and I know she don't want to help me, the nurse said someone has to treat me cause I can't EAT, I don't know what else to do, I can't deal with this for 3 weeks the nurse said I can't go on like this for any amount of time"
They never called back, so I know they don't care. But like I said when I end up in the ER dieing cause I can't eat it will be on her hands.
I don't get how a dr can just let someone with CP suffer, I really don't get it.
Thanks for the ideas but I don't think anything will work for me now, I just have to go with the flow here and let it go.

Jamie girl, I'm SO, SO SORRY.  I did not think it would end like this.  Three weeks to wait is just too much, you'll go out of your mind.  Can you go to that stupid dentist that messed up and can he get you some meds?  I don't know, I think the ER or urgent care is the only option for  you.  Keep strong

HUGS,

Karen

I know you said you can't eat, but you have too, or you will get other health issues. When it was painful for me to eat, (I had other issues than you), I literally lived on applesauce, pudding, jello & soup. It took them about 1yr to figure out my problem.

I know not much help here, but you have got to eat. Can you try OTC sleep aides to try & help you sleep?

Jamie --

I'm sorry to say I don't have any ideas that are any different from what's already been suggested.  However, I did want to say how sorry I am that you're having so much pain and are unable to get any treatment at all for it.  I also agree that you are in a dangerous situation with not being able to eat because of the pain.  I know when I'm in pain I also have trouble eating, but my pain is not in my mouth like yours, so I can't even imagine what you're going through :(

I know you don't want to do it, but I think you've pretty much got two options (other than trying to put up with the pain until your appointment, which I feel is NOT an option) - contact your dentist and see if there is any way they can treat you short term until your pain doc appointment -- or try the ER.  I know quite often CP patients are treated very poorly at the ER, however with not being able to eat, etc., you're at a high risk for getting very dehydrated which will only add to the situation.  Perhaps they can at least give you some fluids via IV and some pain meds to at least settle things down a little.  Obviously it's not a long term "fix", but you certainly can't live in the pain you're having now until you can get in to see the doc on your appointment date.

In my opinion, your PCP is going against their oath, which, of course, says - "Above all, do no harm" -- in my opinion, they are doing GREAT harm to you by refusing to treat your pain on a short term basis until your other appointment.

I'll keep trying to think of ideas/suggestions.  Meanwhile, ((((((hugs)))))) to you and here's hoping and praying that you find some resolution SOON!

Jamie honey, if I was treated this way by my PCP, I would find another PCP who would treat me fairly.  It sounds like your current doctor does not care one way or another how you feel and are living your life.  This is just awful!  I see a NP and never in her life would she treat me in this manner.  Nor would the other PCP I recieved care from in regards to my neck pain.  This added stress is not helping you either.  I wish someone would help you asap!  Take care and don't give up.  July 26th is way too long to put up with this.

Oh Jamie:  I don't know what to say.  Sherry and Noodle both gave you some good advice.  Did you notify your PMP of your decision to no longer be treated by them in writing?  If not, I'd send that letter today via registered mail.  And CC your PCP.  But I do agree, if you've not been treated by this doctor, your contract is not valid.

Could the pain doc's office fax a letter over to your primary doc stating you're not been treated?  Or could you walk over a copy of your records from the pain doc to the  primary care doc?  This would prove you're received no treatment and are not under a contract.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned.  Just thinking of everything I can.

another thing.. is there another PM at the office you could see?? Or another PM in your area altogether?

i can't understand why your PCP won't treat you if the PM hasn't even started treatment?? Is there an office manager or another higher up physician with your PCP's office you can contact? Usually there is an ombudsman, the head of the facility, you should be able to reach and explain this to. I wouldn't give up. This makes no sense. If you have no contract and have no meds from the PM your PCP should not have their hands tied. How about making an appt to go see your PCP face to face?

Hi Sweetie,

I know that I answered your PM but I'm going to say it on here and see if anyone else can come up with some more out-of-the-box ideas for you!!

I know that as of now you have NO PM contract until your Dr. gets back in the country on July 26th.

SO, here goes some thoughts, of course OTC meds. BUT how about you contacting your Neurological Surgeon and telling him what is happening and let him know that you have a NERVE BLOCK coming up and seeing if he can get involved until the 26 th by either taking care of you OR calling one of your Dr.'s your PCP OR Dentist (Don't scream, I told you it was out-of-the-box) to help you until then.

I'm hoping that others here will help out with some more LONG-SHOT ideas for you. If they will we MIGHT hit on one that WILL work!!!

Come on guys THINK like you have NEVER thought before because she CAN'T keep up like this much longer!!

Jamie, we ALL love you and are here for you.....Sherry
