I received a call from The Scooter Store this afternoon telling me that they had all my paperwork and everything was all set and approved for me to receive my power chair. Told me I should be receiving a call from the "local" location (the closest one to me, which is about an hour away) once they (the home office) had faxed the paperwork to them so they (local office) could call me and arrange for delivery, adjustments, training, etc. Within about two hours, I had another phone call - this time from the local office - saying they had received everything from home office and they actually had some people working overtime tomorrow, so they could deliver then if I was going to be available. I am, so we've set it up for tomorrow!
Apparently, when they deliver the power chairs (or scooters), they adjust the seats to your height and comfort level, show you how to make any other adjustments that you may need/want in the future, train you on how to operate the chair safely, how to move/adjust arm rests to be able to get close to a table or counter -- so on and so forth. Much more "service" than I expected....
I still can't believe how quickly this process has gone - especially when you consider we're dealing with Medicare! I'm definitely looking forward to getting my chair and being able to be more mobile and get out and do some of the things I haven't been able to do -- and more importantly, feel safe in my own home without worrying constantly about falling.
I'll post more after they deliver tomorrow and let everyone know how I like the chair, etc. If anyone else wants/needs information on how to possibly get a power chair or scooter for themselves or a family member, let me know and I'll be happy to give you all the names/numbers that I have. So far the Scooter Store has far outdone themselves to be helpful. I'm very glad I decided to go through them instead of a more local medical supply company.
I hope everyone has as pain free a night as possible and I'll be "talking" to you all sometime tomorrow.
