I had surgery but it did not help. What did you end up doing?
My doctor didn't even give a guess as to what it could be, and when I was searching through syptoms of things I thought it might be triangular fibrocartiledge, but this ulnar tear sounds very similar to my pain, when I find a new doctor, I will ask them, because the other doctor I was going to didn't have a clue.
I was seeing a hand surgeon, but since he out right told me there is nothing he can do further, and since the cortisone shot only made the pain spread to my hand I'm in search of another doctor, but I'm not sure what kind of doctor I should be seeing, my other doctor recommended a rehumotologist, but he didn't know what was wrong, so is a rhemotologist my best choice? Or should I skip right to pain management? I just want to know whats wrong and then to treat it.
Has anyone looked at the possiblity of an ulnar ligament tear (these do not show up on MRI's) Here is info on it:

my daughter had this too in her left wrist and also the feeling of heat (burning sensation)and sometimes a little swelling. After about a year it got better but is still vulnerable to any trauma. Her dr ended up treating it like arthritis (she was only 22 at the time!) and that treatment worked. One of the treatments was acupuncture (with heated needles!) and really seemed to help in this situation. I agree with marycarmel ---seek a specialist. Watch out if you are doing yoga ---many of the regular postures put a lot of stress on the wrist. However if you wrap it etc. and are very very careful yoga can help strengthen it. Yoga also helps with the "pain" and the stress of ongoing pain. om yogadon
Has your doctor mentioned RSD (reflex sympathetic dystrophy?) I developed that in my arm, wrist and hand. It is very painful and can be difficult to treat. It occurs for various reasons, sometimes trauma, sometimes for no apparent reason. Have you seen a pain management doctor? Mine came from the trauma of 9 surgeries and countless procedures. It's caused severe pain and I've lost a lot of use of it.
What type of doctor are yoiu seeing? At this point I think you should be seeing a pain specialist or at least a specialist in your condition.
