Headache for 8 days straight

I've been having this headache now for 8 days straight.  It's on and off and it is really severe at times making me throw up.  They seem to be at their worst in the morning upon waking up.

I'm pretty sure it's possible that this is stemming from an ingredient from the oxycodone hcl.  The headache didn't start until I started that med 8 days ago from switiching to percocet.  However, I'm finding myself waking up on my back and the headache is starting at the base of my neck.  This also could be causing the headace from the pressure of the disc hitting my spinal cord.  My herniations are also getting worse.  I'm finding my head getting locked from time to time and the pain is worsening and the pain has also gone into the left side of my neck.  I hate headaches.

We are leaving today or tomorrow for the cabin, so I can not make an emergency visit to the doctor.  I can't let the kids down by not going to the cabin either, they've really been looking foward to this.  I do have an appointment with her next Wed due to the muscle relaxer not working out for me.  I need a BT med too, so I just can't quit it.  I could try and lessen the intake I have, we will see.  The script says they are as needed, so I can adjust these on my own to lessen them.  I think I might try to cut down or out the BT med until my appoinment to see if that is causing this.

Oh, and my stubborn husband went to urgent care last night due to a rash on his leg and he is very sick.  We are waiting to see if he has lymes disease.  He was given two shots in the butt last night of antibiotics and a script for it.  He got home late, so I don't know if they have given him the results for his blood work yet.  He had blood poisioning from it and the streak was half way up his leg.  He almost didn't go into the doctor, I had to get really mad at him in order for him to go.  My youngest daughter had the beginning stages of lymes disease when she was 4. We have 3 acres of wooded property and it is full of deer ticks.

Please do as Sandee has advised.  You could be really sick.  You need to be evaluated before you go anywhere!!

As for sinus and headaches, in addition to the Ibuprofen, an ice pack on the forehead works great.  So does massaging the sinuses.  I've also used steam.  Water heated just to steaming.  Make a tent out of a towel over your head to hold in the steam and vent your "tent" as well.

I would advise you to go to the ER as well. You could have meningitis. When I was so ill they thought I had it and it is serious. With the headache and sore neck it concerns me. Even if it is a simple sinus infection you need medications. Please have it checked out.
I am sorry you have been hurting so long! Don't assume it is the new meds as it could be coincidence. I hope you have it checked out.
Let us know how your doing:) I hope your feeling better very soon!

Sweetie,

I don't mean to frighten you at all, but PLEASE take him to the ER and get that ankle checked out. If it's turning black, he may be in a LOT of trouble. Please don't take any chances. Maybe go by on the way to the cabin.

Please be careful....Sherry

The area that was red and inflammed on hubby's ankle is now turning black.  Very strange.  If it's worse tomorrow, he will go into the ER, they have a clinic that accepts our insurance.  If it's not lymes, he may have gotten bitten by a brown recluse spider.  Even though I live up north with 6 months of snow, they still are here.

My neck pain is in super sore mode right now too.  I must of over done it.  He still wants to head for the cabin and is packing the car now.

I will let you know how Wedsnday goes.  I was switched to Robaxin and I can not take it due to the side effects.  There is only one more in the muscle relaxer group and the doc has never even heard of it.  I don't know what we are going to do.  I need a muscle relaxer to relax the muscles in my shoulders.

Ya'll have a great week and weekend.  There is no internet access at the cabin. :)

I'm so sorry that you have to endure this while at your Cabin. I hope that you are able to get some sort of relief while you are there.  It always seems that the timing is bad no matter what we do.  :) With luck you can still enjoy yourselves with your kids!!

I'm so sorry for what your Hubby is going thru. That can be so terribly painful and make you feel so ill. I hope that he can take it easy too.

Please let us know what you find out from your Dr. on Wednesday and you know that we are all thinking about you and your Hubby!!....Sherry

Thanks you guys.  I doubt I will call the doctor today.  I may wait until Monday and my appointment is Wednsday for the muscle relaxer change.  We are leaving today for the cabin if hubby is up to it.  Bad timing and he has to do ALL of the work.  The headache is coming and going.  When I had moderate spinal cord compression, I had a migraine every day.

I might just try the Mucinex.  I'm bringing my wedge pillow, it seems to help if I'm elevated.  I had a stupid anxiety attack this morning too.  Ugh.  This pain has got to stop.

Sherry, I don't have the same brand as Sandee.  I have the Mallinkrodt brand.  It still could be from that too, I'm sooooooo sensitive to all medications.  The only medications I do not have a problem with is ibuprofen and tylenol.

I am sorry you are dealing with even more pain. Headaches are so not fun and it hurts more when you move so not much can be done when you have one. I would be calling your dr and leaving a message to let them know what is going on so they will know and they can call you back to see what can be done.
Sorry about your husband I hope he gets better soon. Im the same way you are I have to get very mad at my husband in order for him to go get checked out. Once he kept fainting and I had to drag him to the dr, and believe me he was kicking and screaming, he is a big baby lol

If you think the headache could be sinus, I'd recommend taking some Mucinex. It's a pure expectorant and really works well. If it is sinuses, the Mucinex will clear it out pretty quickly unless you've developed a sinus infection.

good luck!

You definitely should talk to your doctor.  The headaches you're describing sound awful.  Ibuprofen you can take up to 800 mg. (that's the prescription strength.)  Make sure you eat with it.  If the doc thinks you should be on that high a dose, they can give you something to protect your stomach.  Also, taking it with some kind of caffeine can help the medicine work better.  And laying down in a dark, quiet room with ice. Other people swear by Excedrin for bad headaches but since I always get relief with the ibuprofen, I've never tried it.

Hope you feel better.  Feels like it never ends, doesn't it?

I'm so sorry that you are having these terrible headaches. You said that you just started taking the oxycodone 8 days ago.

Did you see the post that Sandee1818 did about a week ago? The Pharmacy switched brands of her oxycodone and it has made her VERY ill. Feeling very nauseous and quite ill. I'm wondering if per chance that you have the same brand of Oxycodone that she was given. The brand that she had was CorePharma. She found out that the Labs making the oxycodone are having problems so you might check with your Pharmacist and find out if your Oxycodone is this brand. She had her Pharmacy order her in the old brand that she was on. I don't know if this is your problem or not but thought I would give you a heads up on this.

You definitely need to get in touch with your Dr. and let him know what is going on with you. Eight days is too long to go without letting him know about this reaction. You could even be having a reaction to the Medicine itself, possibly an allergy.

Of course, your other health issues can't be taken lightly at all. But your Dr. needs to kow so that you can get the relief that you deserve WITHOUT being sick on top of the pain!!!

Please keep us updated on how you are doing and what your Dr. says. We are thinking of you....Sherry

Yes, I took ibuprofen.  I usually just take 2 at a time and won't exceed what is recommended on the bottle.  I'm worried about damaging my stomach, espcially with the tylenol in the past.  I did break down and take 3 ibuprofen this morning at one time.  My head feels better now, I also use ice packs to help ease the headaches.  I was also thinking, maybe it's the oxycodone hcl wearing off.  It drives me crazy not knowing the cause.

Have you tried ibuprofen?  Sometimes I get headaches from the oxycodone and I find 800 mg. ibuprofen helps.  For all my pains, it helps a little.  I think it helps the oxy work better for me.

Maybe this is a sinus headache too.  It's inbetween my eyes at the bridge of my nose, in my temples.  It's also coming from the back of my neck to the front.  What a mess.
