Hello Dustinpain,
I am sorry to hear that you have CRPS. It is a painful condition. I wondering if you understand what the procedure is that you are having. Actually by the time you read this response your treatment should be over.
Usually a block is performed to determine if there is damage to the sympathetic nerve chain and if it is the source of pain. This is a diagnostic test primarily, but it may provide relief far in excess of the duration of the anesthetic. I had a very similar diagnostic test for my SIJ. It diagnosed my severe SIJ Dysfunction beyond doubt.
Nick is correct that this site does not tell you how to obtain narcotics but certainly for pain sufferers we make suggestions on who to consult. I don't know in which state you reside. In WI, CP patients are managed by their PCP. PMP do not prescribe pain medications nor follow us on a regular basis. Your state protocol will determine whom you should consult. It is always a good idea to begin with your PCP. If they do not treat CP they can refer you to a PMP.
Your condition brings pain and none of us should suffer needlessly. I am hoping you will let us know how you are doing. I will look forward to your updates. Good luck and take care, Tuck
My understanding of the nerve blocks is that they are more for diagnosing the extent of the condition, not neccessarily as a pain relief tactic. CRPS should be obvious to your dr and if he/she is doing these blocks then I would say your dr is doing what he/she should. Medications are a thing you need to talk to your dr about. It is not the purpose of this forum to advise people on the best ways to obtain drugs. Some more detail of yourself may be helpful as you've not given much to go on. good luck anyway.
