what is codene?

Can anyone tell me what codene (spelling??) is?

I had dental work done yesterday and can barely open my  mouth today. I just called my dentist.  He said he was calling me codene in...then he asked if i ever took it. I said no...the only pain killers I have ever taken for dental work was vicodin and percocet.  He then said oh ok...consider it called in.

Assuming he calls me in codene...what is it???? Is it a pill? I thought it was cough syrup? I am confused.

Actually codeine is an ingredient in Tylenol III, it is a pain killer and can be addictive. If you already took Vicodin as you said then you had take codeine( is in the Vicodin too)

wonderful ... ( i am being sarcastic )

my freakin mouth/tooth hurts HORRIBLY  sooooooooooooo bad . matter of fact, the dentist told me to call tomorrow so i can get in there and he can pull it.....which is what i told him i wanted done to begin with but that's another story.

i say wonderful...just because this is hurting so bad. i have a really high tolerance to pain killers which is odd because i havent ever abused them.....i dont know why but it takes a lot for them to make pain go away............so, im already figuring this may be a waste of money for me to get them. plus,  after he pulls it tomorrow -- like what tylenol is gonna help?? im scared...
