very, very picky six year old boy!

Hi, my son is six & has not eaten meat, veggies, peanut butter, eggs or legumes since he was two. He will sit for hours at the table & will not touch any of it. I have actually experienced him vomiting on his plate when he has any of these foods in his mouth. I have tried everything with him, I am very worried because he gets sick lots, he is pale & skinny. He weighs 40 pounds, my doctor says he will eat when he is ready, this answer is not good enough for me, can somone help??

Sounds alot like my 6 year old son. He is A VERY PICKY EATER Especially loves chicken nuggets; yes, only from McDonald's. I used to worry about this so much, to the point where I was not even able to sleep at night. I asked my son's pediatrician about this, and she suggested to keep on giving him the foods he likes; give him vitamins; also suggested PediaSure. And, well to introduce him to new foods little by little; not to force him to eat it all at first.

Sounds like my nephew. We call him the "brand name" kid. He is 9 now.
He eats nothing but "Minute Rice", "Eggo waffles"," Aunt Jemima Butter flavored syrup", "bugs and Cheese from Boston Pizza","Kraft mac and cheese" (but only the ones in the little cups) and he'll eat the apple slices from "McDonald's" only!
That is ALL he will eat! NOTHING else!
He is extremely pale! Can't play like the other kids do...just sits in his room and reads...very sad.
His pediatrician told my ex SIL to make him try new foods once a week. He told her to basically force it down his throat if she had to...she won't.
She just keeps giving him the same junk food...it's "easier" for her that way.
I think his problem differs from your son's though.
My nephew is a spoiled rotten little brat who needs discipline. lol

I think maybe your son is a "gagger".
I've been a gagger all my life...and it's not easy trying new foods.
Sometimes I can't even put a fork in my mouth without getting sick.
My mom used to make me sit at the table all night until I would eat.
I wasn't even allowed to go to bed or go to the washroom until I ate...of course, that was back in the 60's/70's...back when you could even spank your neighbor's kids. lol

My little cousin refused to eat too...her mom put sweets on her plate and told her that she could have a piece every time she ate one other thing first. It worked for her...now she has a bit of a weight problem...but at least she eats.

Sorry...just throwing ideas out.
Do you give him vitamins? That will at least give him more energy and some nutrition.
What exactly DOES your son eat?
Have you tried making little sandwiches and cutting them into fun shapes?
Hide fruit and veggies in with jello...jello fruit salad...mmm.Orange jello with shredded carrot. Zucchini in cake, banana bread,or even in chocolate chip cookies. They don't know it's there, and it's healthy.
I used to tell my kids that a food was something that they liked...like "this isn't liver...it's bologna" or "veggies? in your soup? don't be ridiculous".
Could you try blending up some veggies and adding them to foods that he DOES eat?
With my third oldest son I used to make "surprise plates". I would throw whatever on them...raisins,a spoon full of yogurt, cheese slices, apple slices,crackers...whatever. He would run home from school to have a surprise plate!
I would always ask him for at least one idea...something he would eat...and now the kid is 15 and LOVES broccoli!!! lol
Another thing I used to do was cook/bake with them. I picked up a kids recipe book and we would try making things together.
When he was 5 he started making eggs in the microwave by himself.
You would be surprised at what a child will eat when he makes it himself.
Hope these ideas work for you.
Good luck.
