Back pain in child

For over a year my 9 year old son has been complaining about pain in his back. He said it's in the middle of his spine. When he gets them he screams and rolls around on the floor crying. I've been to the doctor numerous times, they have done no xray, or MRI and say that it is due to not enough activity. He is normally an active child but the past year not so much. Are there any suggestions or ideas of what this might be? Thanks so much in advance.

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond back, thank you for responding. Flower: Thank you! I know you aren't a doctor, I was just looking to see if maybe anyone has heard of it or had suggestions. I really appreciate it. Yes we do have a primary but she doesn't listen to him. It's frustrating! Im wondering if maybe its irritable bowel syndrome. I hope it's not, but he has some of the symptoms. He has gained some weight, yes. They said he doesn't have enough muscle mass. He plays soccer and baseball. Could no muscle mass cause back pain? I plan on taking him back to get some tests done. I've never heard of a tethered cord....I will ask about it. In the meantime have enrolled him in a program called Lets get healthy designed for children. Im trying to see if he did lose the little bit he has if it will go away. I will keep you posted! Thank you so much again for responding.

Welcome to the forum. We're not doctors here. Can you take him to a specialist? Do you have a primary doctor who can recommend a specialist?

Hugs,
