Can anyone tell me if MRI ok for 3 month???

My baby started showing facial tics. It is so frequent that it may happen every 1-2 minutes throughout the day except the sleep and feed on one side of her face. It's like she is eating a lemon. I don't know what the problem is. The ped suggested MRI, but I am so worried about anesthesia on such a little baby. Can anyone tell me the side effects of the anesthesia? will it be harmful to the brain? Some information tells me that the baby may outgrow the facial tic. Is it true? Please help me!! My baby has been so wonderful since she was born. I can bear anything like this happened to her. I would rather it were me. I love her so much and please help!!!

thanks much! we will do the MRI with mouth sedation. Have you ever heard of facial tics on such a little one? She is such a great baby and she is only not 4 months yet. I am so terrified with all possible prognosis.

Yes, an MRI is ok on a young child. I had an MRI myself at age 1 and a half months. Anesthesia can have side effects if your child doesn't handle it well, same as with an adult. There might be vomiting, dizziness, etc. It is not harmful on the brain. Some babies do outgrow facial tics, but not all do. It's your decision if you want to go through with the MRI or not. If it seems like a big problem, then go through with it. If it's a minor thing, then just wait and see. I know it's hard to see your child suffer, but you have to do what you think is best for your child. Good luck.
