2 year old with abnormal chest xrays?

My 2 year old son was hospitalized for 3 weeks for severe pneumonia.  He had pelurial effusion and chest tubes on both sides. Now he is back to his onry 2 year old self  and doing great but follow up xrays are still abnormal. Could it be still showing left over pneumonia? ?? I'm concerned. He is sceduled for a CT SCAN next week.

Why is he having a CT instead of an MRI?  CT involves excessive unnecessary radiation exposure for a two year old. The same information can be obtained from an MRI. PREFERABLY A 3t mri. The main reason for a CT is the hospital has obsolete equipment they have to amortize.
