Though we said, " 'It is possible to get genital herpes or Syphilis [ and HPV] from the sexual contact you describe.' "
It was a low risk encounter; this mean don't worry about them. STD or STI, these acronyms are sometimes used interchangabily.
For gential Herpes you can take a blood test at 3 months for a conclusive result
syphilis as said you can take a blood test at 6 weeks.
HPV there is no test in men.
For Herpes the best way to test is by sending a sample of sore to lab for examination. If the sore heals then they dont get accurate result. In your case you dont even have a sore so I am not sure if they will use blood sample.
For Spyhilis, testing after 6 weeks is considered most accurate or if you see a sore you can go before and get the sample examined. Also, Syphillis is not common among hetrosexuals.
Hope this helps.
Thank you for your response. I take it that "genital herpes or Syphilis and HPV" are not classed as STD's but as STI's ? The risky behaviour occurred 24 hours ago, how soon should I get tested ? Thank you in advance for your time in answering this.
I didn't read anything of concern to point to STDs
I agree with josejose,
"It is possible to get genital herpes or Syphilis [ and HPV] from the sexual contact you describe."
It is possible to get genital herpes or Syphilis from the sexual contact you describe. Syphilis symptoms usually appear around 3 weeks and genital herpes outbreak can occur anytime.
Both are diagonised by taking a sample of sore (if it appears) and getting in examined. Syphilies can also be diagonised by taking blood sample.
So, my advice would be to go and get tested for Syphilis ATLEAST.
