Urethritis? Or worse?

So about 3 weeks ago I had unprotected oral sex with a girl I have known for a while. She promised me she was clean and had nothing orally, she gets examinations often. The day after I found a small, red painless bump around the mid to top half of my shaft. Of course I start freaking out thinking it is herpes, but a few days go by and it starts to burn when I pee and a slight irritation/burning feels occurs around my shaft, I go to the local healthcare doctor and he looks and says the red bump is just some folliculitis, and says all the burning from urination and the shaft irritation is is urethritis. He prescribes me doxycycline and I take that for 10 days. The bump goes away and so does the burning when I urinate but the irritation of the shaft is still there. It's not quite as bad as it was and it comes and goes. I do wear tight pants so it could be from the rubbing against my boxers in my pants. But what could this be? Is this normal with urethritis or should I get checked again? I'm obviously thinking worst case, such as herpes but I'm not sure. I've read where psychologically I could be worrying so much which causes the irritation but like I said I'm not sure, anyone have any clue if this is normal for urethritis or is it something else?

And also, there is nothing visible that I can tell that would be causing this slight irritation. Wouldn't jock itch and most infections or STIs show some visible symptoms? Plus I've been to the doctor like i said and he did tell me it was nothing, it was just associated with the urethritis but it stayed and that is the only symptom I have. Sorry I'm overwhelming you with questions, I'm new to this sight and this is my first post so I'm being over dramatic about this, I'm sure it's nothing and it'll go away soon. It is getting better than it was before I took the doxycycline I was prescribed to clear up my urethritis, I'm a teenager and my mom tells me not to worry about it and so does my doctor, I just don't have the satisfaction myself out of what he diagnosed me with.

No, they did a urine sample and the doctor acted like it was nothing and what I was experiencing is totally normal, he said it happens all the time and he gets tons of patients every day with this. And I hope it's just Jock itch, it doesn't irritate much, only if I'm wearing jeans and it starts rubbing on my boxers and when I start to think about it and worry, it starts to be slightly irritated. I think it's just a mind thing, if it doesn't clear up I'll go back. But thank you grace, I've ruled out pretty much all STDs, if it were herpes I hear it'd be a lot worse and it'd be constant, not just sometimes.

did they do any testing at all?

not unusual to contract jock itch from oral sex as well as from being on antibiotics.  see your provider again if you are concerned.

we always recommend you only have protected sexual contact. It helps protect you , saves you worrying and saves you from having to test frequently for std's.
