Hello, I was wondering if I could receive some advice on whether I should continue with testing for herpes. So far I have had the classic symptoms, one or two really inflamed bumps filled with blood and pus, sometimes just clear liquid.
I took an Igg blood test more than 6 months after my last sexual exposure. I believe it was an Elisa test and it was able to differentiate between HSV 1 and HSV 2. It was negative for both.
However, I kept a swab test at home in case the symptoms reappeared. The moment a bump appeared again, I pricked it with a needle and took a sample. However, I only really got blood out of it. I sent it to the lab right away, and a week later it came back negative for HSV 1 and 2.
Somehow, still my mind was not at ease. Is it possible that I tested too early? When the bump emerged it was medium sized, but a day after I pricked it, it became even larger and real clear liquid emerged much later.
Not to mention, that I still continue to get these symptoms from time to time. Initially, because I have Fordyce spots I thought perhaps those spots could be what gets infected, after wearing tight clothes and exercising. But when I first showed my doctor the inflamed bump, she stated it must be herpes and that it could not be anything else. I haven't spoken to her since, and the tests I have done were anonymously ordered from online clinics. So this is why I cannot rest assured.
I know instead of thinking about it, I should do one more test but they are expensive. Considering the two tests I have already done, would you say it was sufficient? Any help will be appreciated!
