hep c?

hi i had a possible hep c infection scare bout 6 months ago. 2 days after this scare i developed a blood clot on my eye, you like when people say you caught a draft on your eye. i also started feeling very fatigued and nausea i also have mild pain in my right side just below my rib cage but to the rear where i would usually think my kidney should be.   my eyes are blood shot and veiny and kinda mildly yellowing but not like you would expect with jaundice. i also sometimes have abdominal discomfort. i went to my doc and she ran anti hcv and fbc and liver emzimes. all of which were clear my livers were fine with only gamma gt ever so slightly elevated. at 4 months i had an assay combi test which was clear and at 5 months i had anti hcv and a pcr done all of which were clear but my symptoms persist. my doctor seems to be stumped and im still sick. has anyone any ideas what could be wrong with me. i know its possible. for a person who is immuno surpressed to not have anti bodies for hep c for up to 18 months but the pcr after 5 months should have revealed hep c if it was present. the bloods for this test were taken in a major hospital in my home city and the test was actually done in the national viral lab here in ireland so it should be reliable. anyone any ideas please im so down being sick this has gone on for 6 months now?

Oh meant to add - if you are drink alcohol or use drugs at all, I would stop now, and be really honest with your doc about your intake/use.

Hi there -

I'm sorry you feel so badly.

What kind of scare did you have?  Hep C is almost never transmitted sexually, and is almost always transmitted through needle use.  Of course, it can also be transmitted via blood transfusions, etc., but that shouldn't happen now, since we test blood.

Did they test you for any other types of hep?  You should also be tested for hep a and b, and d, e and f if you have travelled.  I don't know for sure, but I don't think Ireland has high rates of the last 3.

You should also have a liver biopsy and an abdominal ultrasound.  I hope they are staying on top of this for you.
