Stroke and behavior change

I had a stroke last year, at 28 years old. Since then my main problem is my patience. It's really bad... Especially in a stressful situation or lack of sleep, and since I'm a mom with toddlers and a newborn, I'm often stressed out AND deprived of sleep!

I was told that it was normal, blah blah... Great, but it doesn't help my quick changing mood, yelling and all that.

So I need to know if my doctor is right of if anything can be done. Someone told me about antidepressant but I'm not depressed... Just quick to get in a pretty incontrollable rage. The rest of the time I'm normal.

Thanks!

hi, in my idea relaxation would help a lot but you can find how to be relaxed better than others.
doing exercise activities during the day specially in the morning,
and consuming drinks and foods which can help you sleep better, are helpful always. having a good sleep always help you to have a better mood on the next day.
go to your psychiatrist for antidepressants but don't let them to be a habit for you
I'm sure you can get better if you try...
good luck!

I understand how you feel.  I am 34 yrs old and 2 years ago had a major stroke.  I have done all the rehab and gone through all the therapy, but the emotional issues are harder to deal with.  I have found that admitting that I can't do it all is hardest of all.  I have found that finding an outlet and some time to yourself helps as it is during that time you can think about what is bothering you and how to go about finding a way to do it or get through it.  I know how hard that can be as I to have children that are younger and need constant care.  But how you feel is picked up by them and what we project to them is very important.

Go ahead and talk to your doctor about antidrepressant they can help I know that I had to take them for a while after my stroke.  I hope that helps  some.
