Nail Biting

I impulsively bite my nails. Once i start, i cannot stop. If i have nailpolish on, i still bite them.... I also pick at my cuticles. This is bad. I usually pick both untill the bleed, or untill it hurts me to touch the tips of my fingers. I want pretty nails, and need help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually have a problem in biting my nails and lips!! im having more of a problem with my mouth, like i actually make them bleed some times. if i dont lick them or bite them, im scared to talk which is actually quite annoying... i think i should try the chewing gum method...... :)

Another tip is to transfer your habit onto something else!

I have an awful habit of chewing on my lips to the point where they're always red and super-sensitive!  I'm trying to stop it at the moment, and I've taken to chewing gum when I want to chew my lips to give them a break.  It seems to be working pretty well. :)

You want to bite more than you want pretty nails.

When you want pretty nail more than you want to bite,  you'll stop.

This sounds simple and trite and silly,  but it isn't.  It's born of experience.

When you want to stop,  you will.  Nail biting isn't fatal,  or really even dangerous.  No one needs to stop you before you decide to stop yourself,  because pretty nails aren't really important to anyone except your own self.

There is a type of nail 'polish' you can buy that tastes horrible, to help people who bite their nails to stop doing so. You can buy that at almost any convenience store. You can also set a type of reward system for yourself to help. Put a picture of a pretty manicure on your wall and use it as a reminder to try to keep your nails looking nice. Once you have successfully grown out your nails and left them alone, treat yourself to a manicure.
