Vaginal itching

Hi,
For the past 4 or 5 days I have endured itching 'down there'. The itching is not constant, it goes on and off during the day, and it is not unbearable. Just annoying. The itching is located specifically on my inner labia, not in my vagina. There is no sign of swelling or redness and my discharge appears to be normal. There is no pain when I urinate and I am very hygienic.

If it helps, I am a virgin and have not yet started my periods. What do you think the itch is???

Thanks :)

Hello hun, im sorry about your discomfort. Its possible that it could just be dry skin or it could be irritation from a shower gel or soap you used. Could also be from sweating or wearing too tight clothes. I know thats a lot but it hard to find out when im not a doctor and as u said its not inside and not sexually active so wouldnt be a yeast infection or an std. For the time being i would just wash very well with warm water and avoid harsh/scented soaps and/or shower gels, as well as any creams you may use there. I would also make sure that you dry very well when done in the shower and wear loose fitting clothing so the area can breath. If possible i would suggest not wearing any bottoms at night while sleeping to let it air. Do u shave there? Its possible that it could also be as i mentioned dry skin which could be caused by shaving or it could just be irritated by u shaving. If u do shave for now i would stop for a while and see what happens. Thats a very sensitive area and you would be surprised how many things can irritate it. If it continues maybe see your gynecologist or a dermitologist and see if theres anything they can do. For now you can try putting a small amount of Cortisone on it 3x a day. This will help with the itching as well as any irritation. Good luck and keep me posted.
