period symptoms but no period.

Im 18 and ive been having period symptoms that i usually get; I've breaking out, mood swings, some cramps, so on so forth. But i haven't started my period yet. My last period came on july 9th and i was supposed to start aug 8, im over a week late. This isn't that unusual for me but considering I've been sexual active, i need some help. I had sex on july 28 and we used a condom and im 99% sure nothing happened. Now I've been having white discharge come out while i pee and it makes my pee have somewhat of a strong odor. I don't know if this is something bad.. if anyone has advice for me, please let me know. I also thought i should mention i didn't begin having my period til i was 15 and i was always irregular but within the past year or so i thought i was starting to get on track of 30 day cycles.

I'm glad to hear! :) There are many, many different birth control options that you can look into. The shot is called the Depo-provera shot, which last a few months and is highly effective, though it can take a while to get out of your system later on down the line. There is also the implant, birth control patch, vaginal ring, and so on. Talk to your doctor about each option and find out what will work best for your specific needs. Also, make sure that once you get a new birth control method that you understand how it works and use a back up method until it becomes totally effective. If you go on the pill, you will need to continue to use condoms for at least a month until the hormones become effective. Though I would recommend that you always continue to use condoms no matter what just as an extra precaution to prevent pregnancy.

Good news! I started my period a couple days ago! I think im gonna talk to my mom about being put on birthcontrol also. Besides the pill what are some other birthcontrol? Like i heard that there's a shot now that you can get that last for like two or three months, does anyone know if its as reliable as the pill?

I really don't think you're pregnant, as the test would have already shown a positive and you got negative tests. It does sound like a stress issue, which you have been dealing with for a while. Do you exercise regularly and do other things to help reduce your stress levels?

Im three weeks and three days late. My boyfriend and i haven't had sex since july 28 because of me not starting my period.
Do you think i should take another pregancy test?
I started school this past tuesday and for the past few years id wake up feeling sick to my stomach and like i need to throw up sometimes i did, my doctor said it was my nerves. And since this week, Tuesday, I've been waking up feeling sick and like i wanna throw up but it goes away after an half an hour of being awake.
I've been having diarrhea a lot too, which also happened for the past few years when starting school again.
Do you think that's all that it could be?
im trying to give you as much information as i know of that could help you help me out.
So just give me your opinion and i take it into consideration.

@nancy2123, not having a period for that long is a problem and you need to see your doctor to find out what is going on. Also, your questions may be missed if you only post on other people's questions. On the main page for this community, there is a "post a question" button at the top of the forum and you should use that to ask your question.

@periodproblems, How late is your period now? If it is over a month late, then you may want to make a doctor's appointment to find out what is going on. Otherwise, just try to be patient and keep waiting for it to start. At times our hormones can fluctuate and just have an off month where you start your period 2 weeks or so later than you normally do.

@s90, vaginal discharge is completely normal. The only thing to watch for would be signs of infection, which would be a fishy odor, clumpy appearance, a color other than clear or white, itchiness, and so on. If you notice those symptoms, then you should see your doctor, otherwise it's just a normal discharge. Every woman gets it. The vagina is 'self-cleaning' and you get a discharge(cervical mucus) from what ever is pushed out.

you said having discharge is normal but some people says that it is a sign of a disease, infection or something..but I am getting this since I was 10,now I am 15,and it is transparent and sometimes it's dark white and I am a virgin too..it doesn't contain any odour but it happens to me everyday after uranating..and I had an early period,I was not even fully 11!and I always get irregular but once every month..I mean donno why but the date never matches and I am thin(average) but still I always have exact 8 days(although heavy period only the first two days)..Does it mean something? Is it okay?

amm..I think this r the signs of pregnancy(not sure) bt as your result is negative maybe your feeling sick and lightheaded cause lots of water and minerals had got out of your body..and don't worry..sometimes I also have one month off without any reason..and the next month it occurs naturally..

Yeah it sure did help me alot to find out that i wasn't for sure. Yeah, i just really want it to come. Most females hate getting periods but id rather have one every month then not have one. But thank you for all your help and advice. It was very helpful :)

That's good to hear. :) I'm sure that can help put your mind at ease knowing now for sure that you are not pregnant. During stressful, difficult times in life, it's common to have a very late period. It'll show up sooner or later.

Nope, there really isn't anything you can do to make your period come on sooner or later than it does normally. The only way you can change or control when you have your period, is by the birth control pill or other hormonal birth control options.

Alright thanks for the information. :) ; this is kinda a dumb question, but is there anyways to make your period happen sooner or in my case to even get it to start since it's late. Besides like getting on the birthcontrol pill.

Discharge happens at any point in a females cycle. The vagina is self cleaning, so it's natural that you'll notice it. It's not a sign of too much, because you have it while pregnant or not. Cramping can also randomly occur at any time as well. You can get it after sex, during ovulation, or just randomly. The uterus contracts all the time, we just don't normally feel it unless pregnant.

You can try relaxation techniques to try and lessen your stress. Visualizations about things that make you happy, relaxing baths, exercising, etc may all help. Try a few things and see how it goes.

I really hope so! Lol. Im just worried cause my mom keeps asking me about it and im afraid she's gonna make me go to the doctors and get a pregnancy test done there. Im very open with my mom about stuff but i haven't told her that im worried that i haven't started. ; do you have any advice about how i could lessen my stress level? ; oh and thank you for the advice you've given me already. Its really helped me to not worry about it as much.

Stress is definitely a very common reason for having a late period and I would say that is the reason for yours. I know the waiting game for your period to begin can be frustrating, but that's all you can do right now. Just try to relax and focus on other things, and your period will show up later.

Well thank you. ; ive been worrying myself a lot about it and i think that its really stressing me out and that might be causing it to be late? ; & i really dont think im pregnant, but i might take a test just to reassure myself just in case.

Many things can cause a late period beyond pregnancy(illness, hormonal change, stress, and so on), so I wouldn't worry too much, especially since you are typically irregular anyways. If you are worried about possible pregnancy, take a home pregnancy test to put your mind at ease. Otherwise, just try to be patient and wait for your period to come.
