top of belly button piercing is sore and red

I got my belly button pierced about 2-3 weeks ago and it wasnt sore at first but for the past week it has been red at the top part and really sore. There hasnt been any more pus than what they told me should be expected and I have been cleaning it with the sea salt spray and soaking it at night. Is this normal?

i had my belly button pierced when i was 15...if it's red and sore...it's probably infected. and never pierce your own body parts. it's a bad idea....i'd say go to the doctors. if it is infected they can give you an antibiotic to help get rid of it.

Im 15 and have done all of my own piercings i have my nose belly ears ext. if your belly ring is hurting it is probably because it is a cheap ring or you are not cleaning it well enough. Try this fill a cup with warm water and about a spoonful of salt let the salt dissolve then place the cup over your belly and push it on your stomach like a plunger for about 10 min everyday also wash your belly ring with antibacterial soap twice a day. if these dont work your ring is **** and is most likely sinking into your belly button if so you need to go to a professional parlor and get a ring made out of surgical steel or gold not stainless these rings usually run about 75 - 100 dollars a pop but will help with the irritation also for a new piercing i recommend what is called a j - ring for the first 6months to a year to avoid ur belly ring from sinking also whatever you do do not change the ring till a year or 2 later and do not put in a dangle ring of any kind wait atleast a year and if u put one of those cheap things in don't wear it longer than a day or it will irritate you again. i have had my bely pierced for three years trust me and whatever you do do not use alcohol or neosporin

Where did u get your ring at and where were u pierced at i can look into the store and see if the ring they gave you is any good your belly shouldn't be red it should only be slightly sore.
