CAN A HIGH TSH CAUSE ANEMIA? COULD THEY BE RELATED?

I recently got my blood results back. I've been anemic for a couple of years. My primary physician couldn't figure out why so he refered me to my GYN. At the time my mentral flow was heavy but only lasted 3 days. My GYN could not find anything wrong so they prescribed Iron pills for 3 months. I never retested at 3 months & changed to a women's daily multivitamin. I've become engaged and am interested in having a child but my menstrual cycle is very light now and sometimes lasting only 2 days instead of the usual 3. I had tests done to make sure I am healthy and came back with a TSH of 5.61, free T4 2.2,  T4 (throxine) 7.6, T3 29. My cholesterol came back normal. My hemoglobin I'm told is low at 9.4, hematocrit 30.3, MCV 68.0, MCH 21.2, MCHC 31.2, RDW 21.1, PLATELET COUNT 480. I've now been refered back to my primary physician. I don't know what my TSH was for my previous tests. Could by amemia cause this? or vise versa?

TSH and iron levels are unrelated.

TSH of this level could be treated if you have symptoms or monitored if you don't.  Some doctors don't treat unless TSH is > 10, others will treat as soon as it is outside the reference range (note different labs use different reference ranges).  Up to 3.5 is currently considered the maximum, though other labs may still use the old range of up to 5.5.  However the FT3 and Ft4 should also be monitored.

However, if you want to have a child, target TSH before getting pregnant is close to 1.0.
