Ok. Thank you for all of your responses! I am a little embarrassed right now, though. I took an ambien to help me sleep last night around 10:00, and don't remember posting this at all!
I guess that's better than eating in my sleep, but, really! Hiccups? I didn't even spell it right!
No wonder I'm always tired, apparently I go online when I'm knocked out! Hope that's the worst I've done! I'm speechless.....wow, I don't think I'm going to get over this for awhile.

You probably won't believe this one, and I don't have the vaguest idea where I first heard about it.  You have to grab hold of your tongue and pull on it pretty hard.  It affects the vagus nerve and has worked for me several times when nothing else did.

Hmm stand on your head whilst drinking water.....get someone to give you a fright......teaspoon of sugar.....jumping up and down...  There are a ton of old remedies! Most don't work though!
I get hiccups rarely but when I do they go for hours and hurt like heck! Often very violent ones.
The only thing that seems to work for me is to do some gentle breathing. Sitting up straight and focusing on your diaphragm (which is where the nerve causing the hiccups is located) The diaphragm is just under your stomach and before your intestines. Try to not expand your ribs, rather focus the breath into the diaphragm. Then do some breathing regularly, not big breaths just gentle regular ones. You will hiccup a fair bit for the start, but usually it will start to settle down.
Hope they go away soon for you!

Sometimes I have painful hiccups too and I use a paper bag to breathe in to.  Make sure it covers your nose and mouth and just breathe normally for 1-2 minutes.  That works like a charm for me...if you have the hiccups for very long, go to the ER, hiccups can be an indication of something serious going on...better safe than sorry right??  Good luck!

Try drinking some water or cranapple juice.  I think the world would love to know this one.  I read an artical today about how star fruit can cause hiccups, and hurt people with kidney problems because of the natural toxins that they contain.
