Is the pressure/choking feeling in throat constant?

Hi.  Just wondering .. for those that have had or have that choking, pressure or thumb pressing into  your neck feeling ... does it feel like that constantly or just intermittently (sp?!).

For me it usually starts in the afternoon and gets worse as the evening goes on.  When i wake up in the morning, it's much much better.

So I am wondering is it acutally my thyroid (I do know it's slightly enlarged and a small nodule) or is it something else.

Thanks!!!!

please my own sensation moves from the lymph node to the adam's apple.Whenever I feel it at one,I won't feel it at the other.I don't experience difficulty in swallowing. In fact,I don't experience it in the morning when I wake up.
Can someone please tell me the cause of this?

My husband has the same symptoms you describe but in addition he is very tired and listless which is abnormal for someone who was in the gym all the time. Are you still experiencing any symptoms and did you ever find the actual cause?

Hi, I have been going through the tight neck and choking feeling for a couple of months now, it is related to the neck muscles in particular to the ones in the jaw that run down to the collar bone in the front, they become short and very tight then you get the choking feeling, so I found out today, you need to see a physiotherapist to get some stretching exercises that will stretch, lengthen the muscles again, it is due to sitting at a computer for too long, or due to not moving the neck a lot, for me it is due to having disequilibrium, long bouts of immobility and having to lay down a lot, so the muscles have tightened to much.  Leaning your neck over the bed and looking left then right and stretching the neck, gently pushing on the jaw and opposite collar bone will help to stretch it out, but this needs to be done everyday for a while, hope you get some relief soon.  Massage and acupuncture also well temporarily relief it, but the stretching is really what needs to be done, and hot packs too to relax the muscles.
