Pains in head

I am 51 year old woman.  I have had bad headaches for about 2 years now.  Went to the doctor's and they ran every test known to man kind and found no reason for them.  I have tried alot of different kinds fo pills to control it but nothing works but Topamax 100 mg.  but I had to stop taking that about 3 months ago cause I was loosing to much weight.  Now I am on nothing.  But I was told to take one tylenol extra strenght and one excedrin for migraines at the same time.  It did control it.  But I was taking them every 5 to 6 hours when they wear off.  They said there was nothing else to do.  Ok.....  Last year I went to the hospital with a possible TIA .  They aren't sure about that either.  No signs of a stroke but they believe it was that.  I had numb on one side of my face and arm.  No feeling and lasted afew mins.  But it kept coming back in the hospital but they found nothing.  So they called it a TIA. and sent me home.  I have high blood pressure and taking a low dose of Lisinopril 10 mg.  Also I am taking a Bayer everyday.  Other then the headaches and a pain in my head I am ok.  My roblem is I am getting sharp pains in the head on top more or less on the left side of the top of the head.  I was taking the  Tylenol and excedrin to get rid of it but it won't go away and it hurts really bad.  I have no insurance right now and to go to the hospital I know they will find nothing like aways.  My grandmother told me she believe I am going though the change of life.  I don't know.  They did that test on me too but said last year I wasn't.  I am still having periods.  My question is what is the possible reason why my head would hurt so bad.  I know you can say because you haven't seen me but all I am asking what possible reason could there be..   I have had scans done , MRI's and other test last year and they seen nothing.  Help with idea's if you can.  I feel like I am dying.... the pain is so great.

They did see I have something with my back .... Down in the spine.  I remember them tell me there is a bone hitting a bone.  Could that really cause all of this.....  something I really didn't know I had.

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
The symptoms that you have enumerated point more towards spinal nerve compression at the cervical vertebral level. CT scans and MRI were done on the neck? Please consult an orthopedic specialist for this. Sleeping in wrong posture, overuse of computers, neck sprain as in a jerk or car accident and cervical spondylitis can all precipitate this. A good physiotherapist too can help you overcome the neck pain and headache.

TIA is another possibility since you had numbness, but you were having the attacks in the hospital—was a CT scan or MRI of head done then?
It could also be tension headaches or migraines too.

Hope this helps. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
