Random sharp and concentrated pains throughout body

Since I was a teen, I have had these random sharp pains throughout various parts of my body that will occur in concentrated bursts of pain in a particular area for short periods of time. Sometimes pain will re-appear in the same area throughout the day and other times it will appear at seemingly unrelated part of my body. For example, it happened today and began with concentrated burst of pain half way up my inner left thigh. This pain would intensify which would cause me to wince in pain and then release and then repeat all over again every 5-10 seconds for about a minute. This pain did not radiate anywhere but only within a specific point. Then this same stabbing sensation occurred half way up to the first knuckle of my right middle finger about 30 minutes later. Then immediately following this finger pain I felt pain in my right foot at the joint of my middle toe. I have no idea what causes this and both of my siblings report similar type of pain issues. Friends think this is quite strange. As a teenager, everyone called these "growing pains" but I am 30 years old and don't believe this title still applies. Any ideas on possible causes? A friend of mine recommended acupuncture but of course I cringe at the thought of needles.

I'm 14 and I have these problems. Its so weird these pains don't really have a specific spot they hit they just hit random places. Also I've been having a pain shoot from my heart I don't know why.

The same thing is going on with me as well, and I am.  No one seem to have an answer, just like you all are saying the pain just travel and it makes me very nervous at time. I get so depressed from always feeling bad.  I am not on any medication yet, but I am sure that is coming next.  I do not feel like calming me down is the answer finding out what is wrong is the answer. If anyone has any idea of what is going on, please be sure to post.

I know your post is an older one but I would like to know if you found any answers yet to what is causing your pain? I wanted to let you know that your pain sounds like a bleeding ulcer but if it was i'm sure you have already found this out. I hope that you are doing much better now

Hello all,

I have been experiencing these sharp pains for a month now. They occur in every part of my entire body. They come and go but only occur in 1 or 2 places at a time. The shooting pain usually lasts for a few seconds to a few minutes and they are more frequent at various times of the day. At some times during the day, i dont notice them at all, or they are there but not intense enough to recognize them as i am preoccupied maybe?

Something important to note is that i suffered a major depressive episode right when this all started. I have been off my depression/anxiety meds for almost 3 months now (effexor/venlafaxine).

I fear that this is a neurochemical issue that is poorly understood. Maybe it is triggered by intense depression/anxiety. I am terrified at the fact that there is little knowledge about this in the medical community and dont know how i can bare this anymore!! Im thinking of going back on my effexor/venlafaxine and seeking pain relief medications or marijuana.

For the longest time i was afraid that i had viral induced myalgia that needed to take its course but im beginning to think otherwise now. I have already done a barrage of autoimmune, inflammatory marker blood tests which were all normal. I am now thinking of lyme disease as a possible cause but im not sure if that test was done. I will check with my dr tomorrow...

Hello all.  I have experienced these pains also.
First, make sure your body is getting enough pure clean water everyday, it may be dehydrated.
Next, for a few weeks cut waaaayy back/or stop eating red meat  chicken and any fish that might have mercury in it...tuna etc.  Stop eating oils/fats/butter...
and eat only fruits, veggies (+salads)  and beans.  No nuts, no fat, no processed foods/meats for a few weeks. Try this eating plan and just see if you don't feel much better after about three days....try to incorporate into your diet this healthy eating style from now on.
If you are an older female, make sure your bones are getting enough calcium, for the bone pain.
Take vitamins, but take them every third or every other day.  You can actually OD on certain vitamins & that just makesyou feel worse.
Good health to you and throw up a post here if this eating method has helped you.
PS for chest or neck pain, STOP eating red meat & cholesterol foods immediately !
