Why do I get unexplained chills with no fever or infection?

I get these unexplained chills all the time, where im freezing cold with goose bumps all over my body. They hurt and I can barely walk they are so bad sometimes. I check my temp when I get these episodes and its perfectly normal. I do not have a infection or am not sick. Im not even in a cold environment. Everyone around me is not cold. Its the weirdest thing, and I cant find a answer for it. Its like my body is messed up and sending these chills for no reason. Please help.

Hello to ALL with the shivers,

2 month ago I came across this forum looking for answers to my incessant shivers. I did not find the answer, so I embarked on personal journey to find one. And I did!

Through self-inquiry I came to realize that I did not have shivers when I wake up; they appeared about 20 min after breakfast and continued for several hours. Then, they would fade and re-start in the early evening.

So, I looked at my food intake (breakfast and afternoon) and what did I have? COFFEE (oh, yes, lovely, organic and home brewed). I eliminated coffee and my shivers disappeared!  Inspired by this success I went on elimination diet for 12 days and this really made a difference; so many nagging symptoms simply vanished. My mood became very stable and happy, no more struggles getting up in the morning, no more afternoon slump, constant hunger. Instead I have increased energy and self-confidence. I also got rid of my angina that has been nagging me for about 4 years. The most surprising, however, is the fact that I had to lower my thyroid medication as my previous dose of Armour Thyroid (45 mg) started to give me hyperthyroid symptoms. I am now down to 25mg.

Through this diet I found out that I am sensitive to coffee, green and black tea, dairy (even my favourite yoghurt and organic butter), gluten, chicken and tomatoes.

I can say with some confidence that in many cases, shivers may indicate allergy or sensitivity to a particular food.

I need to mention that my diet for many years now has been impeccable, with mostly organic, healthy foods and absolutely no junk food of any kind. It turned out that consuming foods that were incompatible with me made me feel very unwell.

Lastly, I  dropped 3 pounds without any effort at slimming.

I followed the book Diet Wise by Dr. Keith Scott Mumby. His elimination diet is easy and pleasant.) I did all the testing but decided to stay on his plan  (with few additions) as I feel great, never hungry and get all the nutrients I need

I looked up this forum again to share with you my success, and perhaps inspire you to try Diet Wise. It really works!

Hi Angellex, how long did it take you to have treatment with the chiropractor before you fell better. I also have bad heartburn and chills. If possible, where and what is your doctor name? Many thanks!

I have the exact same thing. For the evenings when your face gets really warm and red, have you been outside in the sun (even for a little while) or sat in an office with UV florescent lights? I have this same thing, and I feel very warm like the heat is seeping out of my face -and my husband says I am very red and I feel warm. No fever. I have psoriatic arthritis and my rheumatologist says the red/warm face is a photo-sensitivity caused by either the sun or the UV lights.
The bone aching cold chills - I have yet to figure out. But I see him again in a week and plan to ask. I am newly started on Enbrel and methotrexate and wonder if this could be the cause.
I will try to keep you updated on what I find.
Peace
Laura

You might have Fibromyalgia.  This just happened to me two days ago - and lasted for about 2 days.  At the same time, I had severe swelling in my ankles and hands/fingers, and a sensation of heat on my face, although I did not have a fever.  It must be a nerve issue....

I currently have these symptoms and I have been getting them for some time now. That is the reason I came across this. I feel very cold and my body aches. I also have a headache but with these chills and aches it is now hard to feel. It feels like a fever but I check and there is no fever. Sometimes it will last a week and sometimes just one day. I am at a loss on what to do.
