The year is 1910 one hundred & two years ago. What a difference over a century makes!
Here are some statistics for the Year 1910:
The average life expectancy for men was 47 years.
Fuel for this car (see below) was sold in drug stores only.
Only 14 percent of the homes had a bathtub.
Only 8 percent of the homes had a telephone.
There were only 8,000 cars and only 144 miles of paved roads.
The maximum speed limit in most cities was 10 mph.
The tallest structure in the world was the Eiffel Tower!
The average US wage in 1910 was 22 cents per hour.
The average US worker made between $200 and $400 per year.
A competent accountant could expect to earn $2000 per year, A dentist $2,500 per year, a veterinarian between $1,500 and $4,000 per year, and a mechanical engineer about $5,000 per year.
More than 95 percent of all births took place at HOME.
Ninety percent of all Doctors had NO COLLEGE EDUCATION!
Instead, they attended so-called medical schools, many of which were condemned in the press AND the government as 'substandard.'
Sugar cost four cents a pound.
Eggs were fourteen cents a dozen.
Coffee was fifteen cents a pound.
Most women only washed their hair once a month, and used Borax or egg yolks for shampoo.
Canada passed a law that prohibited poor people from entering into their country for any reason.
The Five leading causes of death were:

I fear to think how things have so drastically happen. the life styles of the kids now days they have no values for them selves. when I was young we respected out bodies and didn't wear skimpy little clothes that middle school girls wear to school. when in grade school I wore a sundress to school they sent me home with a note I had to wear a blouse underneath it or change my clothes. you could not see anything it was a cute dress with high front and wide straps. then you did nit dare kiss a boy on the first few dates or you were a bad girl. now they have sex on the first date. I did not have sex until I got married. wow I had not thought about all thoseother things. what will happen to my great grand babies when they turn twenty. what kind of life will they have. or will there still be a world. you gave me so much to think about. mandy876
OMG bobbi, that is a stark set of figures!. The one that shocked me was the populuatio of just 30 in Nevada. I've heard you can see that many Aliens round there at night. LOL.
No being serious, dying of Diarrhea (WHAT A WAY TO GO). rEMINDS ME OF eLVIS AND PEOPLE SAYING HE FAKED HIS OWN DEATH. iF SO WHY NOT SAY HE WAS LIFTING A CAR OF A ROAD SIDE CRASH VICTIM?. NOT THAT HE WENT TO HEAVEN, OR HELL?, AFTER USING THE LOO!!.
