fever with headache

My 18 yr. old son had, what appeared to be flu symptoms, six days ago.  No head congestion, just body aches, fairly severe headache & fever up to 102.  Naturopathic doc on Friday did find a remedy that eliminated body aches, & fever did lower to normal after four days.  Now, day six, he is having "hot flashes" & the headache is still with him.  No intestinal issues, good appetite, energy to do things . . . the headache & fluctuations in body temperature ("hot flashes" mainly at night) don't add up to anything I know about. Excedrine seems to address the headaches, until it's time for more.
What IS this?

Hello,
dont mess with fevers. Take him to a regular doctor.
In the old days all kinds of HUGE permanent problems were caused by fevers. If he is getting fevers WITH headaches and he were my son, I would want a professional opinion, okay?
Sincerely Susan
