worried baout my husband

Hi , I am a very concerned wife of a 48 year old . My husband has had numerous problems in the last couple of months. The doctors are baffled, and quite frankly so are we.  We went to the ER several weeks ago 3 different times . My husband had severe flushing of the face, and rapid heart rate, and elevated blood pressure. All normal test came back normal everytime.
Our doctor decided to try to test for a carcinoid tumor  with a 24 hour urine test. The results are elevated 5-HIAA (slightly) 6.8 . This was repeated again a week later , with better understanding of foods that may effect the test. It came back the same at 6.8.
Blood work was performed to rule our adrenaline , and serotonin levels. All came back normal . Except for years he has had elevated muscle enzymes ,which isnot related accordign to our Internist . So  he had a stomach, and pelvic, and chest CT scan. Which revealed nothing.
My husband is extremely fatigued and has rapid heart rate often, and now mild flushing of the face. There os really something wrong withhim . I Know my husband and he is not acting the same ,and I am so worried about him . Any ideas or suggestions. Our doc is dumb founded and sending him for more blood work . Please let me know if youcan think of anything else. My husband is normally very active and hyper ,and he is so run down, anyhting takes so much out of him . Other than this he is very helathy . Suffered from high Chlolesterel years ago , takes Lipitor for this , and it is under control . He has weights about 160 and is 5'10 , he is losing weight in my opinion . help I do not know what to do!

My daughter had lots of strange symptoms for months before she was finally diagnosed with POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome).  She started out with just palpitations, hot flashes and dizziness.  Later it progressed and the hot flashes were more often and she also had nausea at times.  Then headaches/migraines kicked in and she became so fatigued she missed 3 weeks of school in the past month.  This may or may not be your husband's problem, but I suggest you start monitoring his blood pressure.  In the hospital they took my daughter's first while laying down, then sitting on side of bed, and finally standing.  Write down the blood pressure as well as the pulse each time and keep track of it.  Her pulse increased each time and standing was about 30 bpm more than laying down.  The Cardiologist had a Tilt Table Test done which diagnosed her.  (Prior to that she had worn a Holter monitor for 24 hours which indicated she was in Tachycardia....pulse over 100 bpm 20% of the time while in bed.)  When my daughter had her 'hot flashes' her face would turn pink and a couple of times her legs actually looked like she was sunburned!
They had also checked the tests you mentioned looking for a tumor that sends weird messages to the brain causing it to 'tell the heart' to beat faster when not needed....that was negative as were all other tests until the Tilt Table Test.  A special Cardiologist performs these types of tests.

Good luck to you and keep us posted.

What type of doctor is he seeing that's running these tests??? Has he seen a neurologist? That's a must if he's got elevated muscle enzymes. He could have something like myasthenia graves or a metabolic myopathy. Good luck, keep us posted.
