Strangulated hernia is an irreducible hernia in which the entrapped intestine has its blood supply cut off. It is a surgical emergency and Pain is always present, followed quickly by tenderness and sometimes symptoms of bowel obstruction (nausea and vomiting).
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Depending on where the hernia is at it can give different symptoms.

When I had an inguinal incarcerated hernia. I had swelling and pain on the right side. This would be worse when I sneezed or coughed, lifting or bending. Pain can be constant or on and off.

I also have a hiatus hernia. This is a part of the stomach that is herniated. With it I have acid reflux, buning sensation and nausea at times.
