Hello,
Yes adult bedwetting can be treated with medical amangemnet but it is a long term process and behavior and lifestyle modification along with medications is necessary. You have to consult a good urologist and start with the treatment.
I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
It is treatable, you might want to check into a referral to a trained physical therapist as well.
Thnks doctor... But can this be treated?? Or It persists for life?? As this has became little embarrasing for me and refrains me from going to new places..
Hello,
This wetting of bed is called adult urinary incontinence. It can be due to overtaking the fluids at night, urge incontinence, inappropriate bladder contractions. constipation, infection ,a stone in the bladder ,use of diuretics ("water pills") and thinning of tissue due to decreased estrogen after a woman goes through menopause. Please get it evaluated from a urologist.
Limiting intake of fluids in the late afternoon and evening before bedtime is the first step towards treatment. Other treatment options are bladder volume training, bedwetting alarms and setting an alarm during the night at a random time in order to urinate. If still the symptoms persist then medical treatment with desmopressin, imipramine and anticholinergics can be tried.
Hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing. Kind regards.
