Thanks..
Not sure my doctor feels it is that serious for that next step? The pain for the past 2 days has been minimal and the swelling has gone down..
should I ask for a blood test to see if my white blood cell count is high?
I never had fever or any other symptoms other than the mild pain and a little swelling on the right side of the scrotum.
I don't want to be a hypochondirac but what do you feel is an appropriate next step medically speaking?
Hi,
Your tests all came back negative. A urinalysis alone will not be able to establish an infection especially if the involved structures include the prostate. A prostate infection is a differential in your case. It may cause referred pain to the scrotal area or the testicles.
Involvement of the prostate has to be ruled out in your case and management will start from there. A transrectal prostatic ultrasound as well as a scrotal ultrasound may be necessary to assess both the prostate and the structures within the scrotum.
Prostate infection usually requires 4 to 6 weeks of oral antibiotic treatment.
Thanks so much
Urine Test results have all come back negative including chylamydia . I have had three different urine tests spread out over 2 months or so .. Swelling seems to be minor and has gone down. The pain was intially a bit painful but has since been more annoying. The sweeling seems to go down and then back up .. Quite odd as I have never had anything like this i my life?? I am very active but I doubt it's muscular.. I have just started the no caffine, no alchohol thing and elevating the scrotum at night ( no sex too).. Swelling went down & seems to be working as it has only been one day..
Just want to know what proper treatment to administer to get better
Thanks so much
Hi,
Your urinalysis has shown within normal results and the results remained negative a week later. Do you still have associated symptoms of pain in the testicles?
At this point, I feel that the infection is no longer active, although the organisms may still be present and it is also possible that this has not completely resolved. Follow your physician's advice. As the results came back negative twice, you may discuss with your physician if you may engage in sexual activity.
An ultrasound may be indicated at this point, given that you still have noted a slight swelling in the area. Discuss this with your physician. A scrotal ultrasound will help ascertain the cause of the swelling. A complete blood count may help in excluding an underlying infection.
