Frequent Uriation/Pelvic Floor Disfunction

Hi

I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me. Last year I had a year of frequent UTIs and Thrush, then in November i got a mild UTI and took anti biotics, but still had symptoms, although the doctor said  I was bacteria free. My symptoms were urgency, frequency and itfelt like  i just drank a few sips of water and would need to urinate much more than I drank.

Now 6 months later I still have the urgency/frequency and also some pain and irritation in my bladder sometimes.

I saw a private urologyst who did a cystoscopy and said he doesnt think its IC but thinks i have chronic pelvic floor contraction caused by stress. Ive been taking muscle relaxant tablets for almost 2 months and i think my muscles between my legs are slightly more relaxed as before they were clenched all the time and i couldnt unclench them, and now they are not so tight, but i still have the urgency, frequency and bladder irritation sometime,

I am watching my diet and avoiding bladder irritants.

My question is, can all of this really be caused only by tight muscles? Even the pain/irritation that seems to be inside my bladder?

The doctor only did a normal cystoscopy, he didnt really do the potassium tests and things for IC. Is it possible it could be IC or some kind of bladder irritation? Is there any other medication for an inflamed bladder? I only have 3 weeks left of my muscle relaxing tablets and somehow i dont think this will be cured by then.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi

Thanks, yes it was helpful. I went back and had a urodynamics test, but it only showed that my bladder has shrunk a bit. Ive been having physio therapy and its helped a bit as ive been feeling a bit better for the last few weeks, and tomorrow ill start with vaginal valium that my doctor gave me, so hoefully it will help the muscles relax more.

Hi there!

Well, without a clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of your symptoms. Yes, neuro-muscular issues could present similarly. Other possibilities that may need to be considered include recurrent infections, chronic inflammation, hormonal/ endocrine issues etc. Though there are other medications, these may not be suggested till a definite diagnosis is made. You may either consider a review with your treating urologist or consider a second opinion with another one for a detailed evaluation. After a cause is identified, it can be managed accordingly.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
