Thanks Vanessa, you have been a big help, and I must say after six stones I will do whatever it takes not to have them form any longer. thanks again.
Hi,
The ultrasound is operator dependent that is there may be times when certain areas may be missed. It is also possible that the stone is too small to have been detected as something significant in the scan.It is also possible that the stone was already in the lower portions of the urinary tract and could have been missed when the scan was done.
At this point, you have passed the stone.Your prior history of urinary tract stones should mean that you may need to modify your diet ( avoid calcium and oxalate rich food, too much coffee and meat).Take plenty of water and engage in daily exercises to improve circulation.
I did save the stone, looks like a tiny metor, jagged edges and such. I just never thought it would take three months for a stone to pass. I had 5 before this since 2000 and none took longer the a week to pass. My question is, when they did the second ultrasound, they said its gone, guess they were wrong heh? Where was this sucker hiding?
Hi,
How long would it take for a kidney stone to pass? There is no availabe conclusive data that gives information on this. The time from stone formation to passage into the ureter to extrusion into the urine should vary from one individual to another. This depends on the size and location of the stone as well as factors like amount of water ingestion, presence of structural or anatomical abnormalities ,and probably diet.
It is possible that the stones may be small enough so as to be easily extruded into the urine.I suggest that you try to retrieve the sediments next time for analysis .
