Numbness In Penis

Let me first start off by explaining that this all started happening when I was taking 5 or mg or Risperdone. I noticed that there was some numbness down there and my ejaculation level was reduced as result of it. After taking the medication for a year and going on brief holiday's I know the symptoms would just dissappear. Having not wanting to deal with the symptoms I was switched to 20mg of Abilify. They told me the abilify would not cause any problems of sexual dysfunction, but after I started taking it the problems seemed to get worse and worse. It's got to the point where it's difficult if not sometimes impossible to obtain an erection and even harder to ejaculate. I am wondering what I can do or take to reverse these side effects? I have yet to see a urologist, but I am going to schedule an appointment I was wondering if anyone else on these forums has exhibited similiar symptons or there is a doctor that can help me. It's really left me fatigued and depressed for quite a while despite the fact that I am not sexually active. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for the response. I am in the process of seeing a urologist. I never experienced priapism in the past when I was on Risperdone thankfully, although it has been known to cause sexual dysfunction. Everything seems very weird now. Ever since I have been on the Abilify it's got worse as there was some numbness, but now I am also unable to obtain an erection. The sensetivity in that generally area has greatly decreased. The last two things I am concerned about our my ejaculatory volume, which has dropped off steadily ever since being on these medications and my testicles never change in firmness or size anymore. Any more ideas would greatly be appreciated. Thank you!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,

I suggest you seek consult with your physician prescriber first. Do not stop or taper your medications as this may only lead to further reactions. Discuss you concerns with your physician so that your medications may be modified.

These medications have been associated with prolonged erections or priapism. Has this occured in your case?

A consult with a urologist will also help. A complete medical history and physical examination will be necessary.
