BLEEDING AFTER MACROBID TREATMENT

DOES MACROBID CAUSE BLEEDING OR MAKE YOUR MENSTRUAL CYCLE COME EARLY.  I JUST FINISHED MACROBID 7 DAY TREATMENT. MY MENSTRUAL CAME 3 DAYS EARLY AND THERE IS BRIGHT RED BLOOD AND USUALLY MY MENSTRUAL BLOOD IS NOT THAT BRIGHT. I INITIIALLY WASNT DUE FOR MY MENSTRUAL UNTIL YESTERDAY I'VE BEEN BLEEDING SINCE THE 3RD AND IM STILL BLEEDING BUT NOT ALOT LIKE I WAS YESTERDAY AND THE DAYS BEFORE BUT THE BLEEDING HAS LIGHTENED. THE BLEEDING WILL COME OUT IN MY URINE I WANT TO KNOW WILL THE BLEEDING STOP? I HAVE BEEN TO SEE MY DOCTOR SHE SAID IT IS FROM HAVING A UTI AND COMPLETING THE MACROBID TREATMENT. I JUST NEED MORE OPINIONS!

I was bleeding, at first I thought from my vagina, but discovered it was from my urethra, after a few doses of macrobid. I was misdiagnosed with a UTI, so there was no infection to explain the bleeding. I think it probably happens more than what is reported, because medical professionals dismiss the bleeding as resulting from the infection, not the treatment.

Hi..I wondered the same thing..I  recently noticed while taking macrobid(I have IC) I also had bright red spotting!  Im past menopause and am 68 years old

Hi there!

Macrobid does not alter the menstrual cycle or cause bleeding. Slight variation in the menstrual cycle is normal and should not be a cause for alarm.

Actually, macrobid does cause spotting & vahinal bleeding.
