Painful Groin, testicle.

4 days ago I developed a painful left testicle and the pain extended up my stomach to about the level of my belly button.   I went to the doctor and he felt for a hernia and ran a urine sample.  Said it didn't have blood or bacteria.   And didn't feel a hernia.  Rx doxycycline 100mg twice a dayfor 7 days.    I had taken a vocodin 10mg and it didnt help any with the pain.  It felt like the epididymis was swolen.  After a warm bath if felt different from the right side.  It hurts like I have been hit in the area or it is being squeezed.  Everything felt good yesterday.   I did masterbate and it looked normal but 6 hours later had significant pain to the area.  Sometimes it feels like the right testicle.  Could this be a bacteria infection of my testicle?   How did that happen?  Wouldn't I have a bladder infection before an infection of the testicle?  I'm 36.  Not sexually active with anyone.     I **** feel any lumps.   The only other thing I could mention is it feels like swollen cords on the inferior dorsal part of myscrotum. This is what I was calling the eididymis.   Not sure if it is the epididymis. Any ideas?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Testicular pain can be due to injury, infection (Epididymitis or Orchitis) or inflammation, testicular torsion( most common in young men), excessive bicycle riding, hernia, varicocele or kidney or ureteric stones.

As there is no swelling or inflammation or redness of the scrotal sacs, so the chances of epidiymitis or orchitis are rare.In testicular torsion, there is severe sharp pain and it becomes a medical emergency. Lab investigations like complete blood examination, urine examination, ultrasound lower abdomen and sometimes a urethral swab will help in diagnosis. Treatment will be started thereafter. My advise would be to consult a urologist.Hernias, varicocele and kidney or ureteric stones have to be ruled out.
I sincerely hope that helps. Take care. Please do keep me posted if you have any further queries on the same.

Was the doctor a urologist?  Was a scrotal ultrasound ordered? You really need to see a urologist to rule everything out.   Hope you feel better.
