I apologize for the long inquiry and poor grammar, I basically copied this from my own personal writing on my PC to account for my symptom progression:
I am a 23 year old medically competent but slightly ignorant male. I accidentally (its true) came into un-protected sexual contact with a very questionable woman who has a history of stripping, herpes, mold exposure, and always seemed to be sick. I did not take these into much account at first as I am non-judgemental, and yes I did in fact have poor judgement at the time.
Had an undetectable (by urine only) STD in urethra which caused clear discharge, and red swollen urethra; symptoms developed slowly and noticably over a 2 week period after coming into sexual contact.
Took antibiotics for the STD (NGU/non-detectable chlymadia, you could basically call it) and ONLY 4 DAYS LATER had cystoscopy done (because I was told that the NGU symptoms should clear up after 2-3 days, also it was the urologists idea to do the cystoscopy, of course it was not until after the cystoscopy I realized it was completely uneccesary when I really just went to the uro to ask how much longer the antibiotics could take to work, i was told the cysto would be a very quick and painless procedure so I said why not, before the cysto was performed I told the nurse "I might chicken out" and gestured to put my clothes back on, I was not ready. But I was re-assured by her that it would quick, painless, easy, and how common it is. So I laid back and tried to relax.)
I was not relaxed during the procedure, and was very tight and cold that day in my groin area. Felt immense ripping/tearing pain during procedure once scope reached bladder, and resisted to the point of stopping the procedure very early, perhaps after about 30 seconds. But still the doctor was able to say that he did not see anything concerning in my bladder.) Drove home feeling psychologically traumatized, and with an intense pain and overall feeling that something had just gone terribly wrong. Even during just the drive home I already could feel that this pain was something that was not about to go away quickly, easily, or maybe even ever completely go away.
Immeditately eperienced what in my opinion was alot of blood in the urine.
Immeditately noticed pelvic/groin/testicle/bladder/prostate/inner shifting pain and discomfort for the first two weeks.
painful erections (some prostate pain), and pain/burning/discomfort upon ejaculation. Also non-existent/very weak morning erections (which has not been characteristic of me upon waking at all in my life.)
Pain seemed to be dissipating and morphing very slowly over time.
At around the 2 and a half week point most of the shifting pains seems to reducing but then suddenly developed urinary urgency and frequency to an extent that has not occured before.
At this point I had already seen our family doctor about the persisting pain, and overall concern, basically was just told "its just irritation". And also re-visited the original urologist once I developed the urine/frequency. Was given meds for bladder/prostate/etc. Urologists confirmed that I am emptying my bladder by ultrasound. Does that rule out stricture/scar tissue blockage? Noticing more consistent incidences of night shaking/chills but could be completely unrelated, but I did not experiencing any night shaking in my life until i first contracted the STD and was experiencing urethral symptoms.
Waited for it to heal naturally (just because I was told it was irritation by the doctors, I figured it should heal progressively and I did not take the meds so I could notice the progression of the healing)
Did not get better, instead got worse near the point of urinary retention. Weak-stream. Straining to urinate, and terrible urgency perhaps urinating small amounts every 5-10 mins at its worst points. Went to hospital in the evening from concern that symptoms were leading to complete urine retention, and was simultanesouly dreading the thought of having a catheter placed in there while I still seem to be healing from the cysto, and of course seeing how much damage a "common", flexible cystoscope had already caused me; I am beyond emotionally set against ever having anything invasive performed down there at any point soon unless in dire need to save myself of something. Was sent home from the hospital basically told to be on "watch guard of the symptoms progression". Once I reached home, had to urinate badly and couldnt...I panicked at the toilet and took every med the doctor gave me at the same time. Eventually was able to urinate (...somewhat) after deep breathing/calming. Both following uro visit/doctor visit/and hospital visit all conducted urine tests that were clear; though I am aware prostate infections would not show in urine, but in prostate fluid, or not be detectable. Also a large possible clue to this puzzle is that my original STD infection of the urethra was non-detectable by any urine test.)
Now nearing the 5 week point after the cysto, still experiencing general but lessened overall bladder/prostate (yes, even when I sit I can feel a discomfort in the anus near what I suppose is the prostate area, as somewhat of a twitching feeling, and also a similar twitching feeling sometimes still passes through my penis.) Also still discomfort with ejaculation in the sense that I feel extra, uncomfortable muscle spams during the orgasm. As if its forcing. Trying to hold bladder in phases; since i started the pills I have gone from letting myself urinate once every 20 min, then to once every 45 min, then once every hour, once every hour and fifteen min, etc; over the period of about 3-4 days now. Now not letting self urinate more than once every 2 hours and fifteen mins, but still symptoms will flare up such as just now; I was forced to urinate 20 mins after previous urination because I could not hold it. I developed this system because I noticed that the longer I hold it, the stronger the stream seems to become (closer to its original strength, but I wonder if I stopped taking the meds it will start to leak out again.)
Noticing that fecal consistency is altered in a sense that it seems to be more blocked.
Noticed a fungal/yeast infection around testicles/inner thighs. Consistenly strong smelling urine (thought could be unrelated, but if related the original yeast-like STD infection, could mean something perhaps that an infection has gotten to my bladder from the cysto?) Still in the process of using fungal/yeast treatments on the skin of infected areas. I am somehow sure Ive had this fungal infection during when the cysto was performed, so if fungus was on my urethra before the procedure, could it have gotten in my bladder/prostate from the scope? I dont remember them applying any disinfectant though i did not pay much attention the pre-cysto stuff that occured. Could it be the original STD is in my bladder, and soaking through my lymph nodes of the groin and caused the outer fungal infection? I know that is stretching possibilities even.
Now on 3-4 days of multiple meds (I believe alpha blockers, and overactive bladder meds) and urgency/freq seems to be going away, but then flares up again at times. I wonder if i stop taking the pills it will come back in full force again? Still slight bladder pain.
Scheduled to see best urologists in state in a few days out of general concern and fear of worsening conditions. They have all my records, and I was called today to confirm I recieved the "surgical" paperwork; because the urologist plans to do ANOTHER CYSTO (NO WAY! :p ) because suspect of urine blockage from scar tissue; but I was told I am still emptying my bladder even after the cysto by the last urologist visit.
