Urinalysis result - trace blood

I am a 42 year old male. I recently had a routing urinalysis.

All was normal except for:

Blood: TRACE.

There was were zero RBC's found so this seems confusing. How could blood have been found but no RBC's? What could this reading mean in the absence of any other result?

Yes, it is possible. If there is hemoglobinuria or myoglobinuria then the trace blood will be positive but there will be no RBC in urine sediments.

I'm curious--

But how can the report show ZERO RBC's  and Trace blood at the same time?

How can there be blood...but no red blood cells?

Thanks for writing to the forum!
I would advice you to repeat the urine analysis. If the trace blood persists then the possible causes in absence of urinary infection are stone, certain drugs, cancers and bladder infection. You would then need to consult an urologist.
