Hi
Yes, prostatitis does cause testicular pain. However diagnosis is usually confirmed by urine analysis. Ultrasound or CT scan is seldom needed. Please take a second opinion or consult all these possibilities we discussed so far with your Urologist. A clinical examination along with the history and results of the tests will together form a diagnosis. Please consult your Urologist and go with him one by one with all these possibilities. Maybe your urologist may suggest another ultrasound or a CT scan. Many a times a second opinion helps.
Let me know if there is anything else. Please keep me posted. All the best both for your consultation with your Urologist and your surgery!
hey
So do you think i should have another ultrasound done?? because when i had the ultrasound done i had the pain on both testicles but rarely on the right one it was mostly on the left side. Does prostatitis cause testicular pain as well the way i describe it because the pain is mostly on my left side.
Hi
No, epididymitis or orchitis will not test positive on urine examination. Sperm count is only to see if the varicocele has affected sperm formation in any way, though unlikely in your case. Color doppler ultrasound and clinical examination will rule out epididymitis. Orchitis can only be diagnosed on clinical examination.
I suggest you take a second opinion. Please keep we posted. Don’t worry, everything will sort out.
hey
Yes i did have an ultrasound and they did check on both of my testicles and they only found the varicocele on my left side nothing on my right side.
well if i had 2 urine samples done with the urologist wouldnt that see if i have some sort of infection like epididymitis or orchitis?? i mean because they came out clear.
well i have not had sex since the last day of june and i got tested for all stds in august and everything came out negative then again i went again in mid september and got tested again and everything is negative(thank god) so i have not been sexually active. I only masturbated like 4 times in september that is all.
wat is the sperm count and wat will it determine??
Hi
Thanks for keeping me posted.
You already has ultrasound and vericocele was caught only on left side (right?) or was it that ultrasound was done only on left side. In the latter case it will be wise to undergo ultrasound on right side too. If ultrasound has been done on both sides you must look at other causes of pain in right testis like epididymitis (which is pain in one of the tubes attached to the testis), torsion of testis, infection in testis (orchitis) etc. Please discuss these possibilities with your surgeon.
I again ask you to undergo complete tests for STD (sexually transmitted diseases) (if you have been sexually active). Also get a sperm count done.
Please let me know if there is any thing else. Please keep me posted.
Yes doctor i am plannin to have surgery on it to fix the pain, i am 19 yrs old.
but another things concerns me i sometimes have slight pain on my right testicle could that be because of the varicocele on my left side or do is there something else i should be concerned about. I mean because the ultrasound only indicated i have the varicocele on my left side that is why i am confused. And the urine samples came out clean. can this be any sign of prostatitis or urethritis?? i ask this because for about 2 days now i felt like sum slight burn after i urinate like 20 min later. This burn is just like a second and then it goes away and have experienced it only like twice a day in this 2 day period. I dont have any trouble urinating. I am very concerned about this doctor.
Hi
You have been tested positive for a varicocele and since it is causing you pain and discomfort, you need to see a surgeon. The surgeon will ligate (tie it up) the varicocele.
I am not sure what age group you are in. Varicocele are known to cause infertility in men, which is highly reversible on surgery. Maybe getting a sperm count done will be a good idea.
Please consult a surgeon at the earliest. Please refer too this link for all information on varicocele: http://www.urologychannel.com/varicocele/index.shtml
Hope this link is of some help to you. If you need more help, please feel free to contact. Please keep me posted.
hey doc thanks for the reply
I did go to the std clinic twice and got checked for all stds and they all came back negative. The only symptom i had besides the pain on the testis was a lil bit of clear sticky precum after i urinated in the morning. The clear sticky precum would show up an hour later after i urinated for about 3 weeks but until now it has not showed up anymore. So then i went to the urologist he ordered me a ultrasound, the ultrasound said that i had a varicocele on my left side he said i did not have anything else that is all.
1) what other tests should i do to know what i have doctor. I already had an ultrasound done, got tested for stds twice so what else can be done?
again thanks for the reply
Hi
Thanks for writing.
Testicular pain is due to many other causes apart from urine infection. Generally urine infection is caught on urine examination, which however is negative in your case on two different counts. Hence you must look at other causes of pain in testes like epididymitis (which is pain in one of the tubes attached to the testis), torsion of testis, infection in testis (orchitis) etc. Please refer to this link for all possible causes of pain in testicular area: http://www.emedicinehealth.com/testicular_pain/page2_em.htm
You need to undergo complete tests for STD (sexually transmitted diseases), blood tests and maybe an ultrasound. Please consult your physician or surgeon regarding this.
Hope this helps. If you need more help, please feel free to contact. I’ll be happy to answer your queries. Please keep me posted.
Hi,
Urinalysis will show the presence of infection. There are a lot of causes that can lead to urethritis. Urethritis may be caused by bacteria or a virus, chemicals used in spermicides or contraceptive jellies, creams, or foams, or injury.
Men between the ages of 20 and 35, those with multiple sexual partners, and those who engage in high-risk sexual behavior have the highest risk for urethritis. Are there other signs or symptoms present? Physical examination with digital rectal exam may be done to reach a diagnosis. Aside from urinalysis, tests for gonorrhea and chlamydia and other sexually-transmitted diseases, and complete blood count are usually done. Antibiotic therapy should target the specific organism causing the infection. Pain relievers may also help.
Take care and regards.
