What would cause me to wake up more than six times a night to pee?

I am a 58 year old male, and I've suffered with this condition for many years. Even when I was in my 30's, I woke up several times a night to go to the bathroom. The number of times I wake up during the night has increased over the years. Note that I don't have prostate issues. I did a sleep study at home and it was determined that I have a very mild case of sleep apnea. I tried the CPAP machine, but I could not sleep well with it. Even when I did fall asleep while using the machine, I still woke up to pee in less than two hours. (According to a Urologist that I went to, sleep apnea can cause frequent night time urination). I tried the sleep aid drug Trazodone, and it definitely did not help. I seemed to pee more often while on this drug. I normally cannot go more than two hours without waking up. I have to go to bed very early to maximize the number of hours I'm in bed. I only drink coffee in the morning...two cups of half decaffeinated coffee. I drink only water from around 8:00 AM until I go to bed and I try to cut make my fluid intake in the evening. The only prescription drug that I am on is Simvastatin (20 mg). Please let me know if anyone has this condition and whether they have found any type of relief. Thank you very much! Dave

Stop drinking all fluids (including water) at least two hours before retiring and see if this helps.  Otherwise, you may just have to live with it as you have been for 20+ years as its related to your sleep apnea.
