acute right testicle pain

I am 26 years old.  I recently had a large hiatal hernia repaired by surgery (approx. 1 month ago).  About one week ago I noticed a pulling up sensation in my right testicle.  It seemed higher than usual.  It continues to be a nagging dull feeling.  I felt around the testicle and do not seem to feel any lumps.  The cord or whatever it is that is connected to the testicle seems to be a little thicker than the one on the left.  There is a little pain in my testicle and a little pain in my groin area.  I am a little worried.

I did not have surgery to repair a inguinal hernia.  I had a hiatal hernia.  I just didnt know if that could have anything to do with it.  Thanks.

Hi
Pain in the testicles after inguinal hernia repair is quite common. Mostly it is due to involvement of the genital branch of the genitofemoral nerve, which has been cut, stretched or entrapped at the scar tissue.
You should consult your surgeon about your problem. Some investigations that may help include careful physical examination of the scrotal contents, scrotal ultrasound, and scrotal exploration.
The conservative approach to treatment includes elevation of the testis, cold compress, and avoidance of heavy lifting or straining and anti-inflammation medications such as ibuprofen. If conservative therapy doesn’t help, possible treatments could include exploration of the area to remove scarred or inflamed tissue, manual manipulation or stimulation of the painful area. The other options that you may discuss with your surgeon are spermatic cord block or a spermatic cord stripping.
Do write in about your follow-up with the surgeon.
Take care!
