retrograde ejeculation

Several months ago I had green light surgery for an enlarged prostate and now have retrograde ejeculation.In my case after the surgery can this condition be corrected?

I am 61 years old.  Not much younger than you.  Thanks for the information that you have given me I appreciate it.
I am going to have to have somthing don to my prostate at some point but I have another problem that complicates my situation.  I also have a disease of the bladder that is called Interstitial Cystitis (IC).  I have constant pain much of the time.  Surgery on the prostate gland may make my IC worse due removing tissue from the bladder to open up the prostate.  One urologist tells me that he thinks it would help with my IC pain.  Another urologist, so called IC expert, says never have prostate surgery using Green Light Surgery.  I presently do not know what I am going to do.
Again I appreciate the interaction and your insight and wish the best.  If you want in the future after everything has settles down let me know how things are going.  Thank You

Hi,I'm an older guy 66 yrs young.I have had no pain since the first few days.It has been about ten weeks since the surgery and in the last two weeks I have been feeling very well again.The doctor never told me the size of the prostate or maybe he did and I don't remember.He showed me pictures of the inside of the bladder he took during the surgery and there were lines in it.He said these will heal.He said the bladder has to force the urine out due to the enlarged prostate and this is what causes the damage to the bladder.The pain I had at first was a burning pain when urinating ,It was bad the first day and less the second day ,but since then no pain.I really feel the procedure has saved the bladder,the only problem is the retrograde ejeculation everything else works well,so I will have to adjust.I hope this has helped you,again I am in no pain now

From what I have researched via internet everything should work except your sperm will go into you bladder instead of out the penis.  You should still be able to get an erection.  You should still be able to have children but not the natural way.  If you did not get an erection that would really be a big problem but most likely that will not happen.

Did you urologist ever tell you what the size of your prostate was before surgery?  If you are a young guy it was probably around 20 to 25 grams.  I have a older guy and my prostate is about 45 grams.  They say that the larger the prostate the longer it takes to heal.  I have somewhat scare to have GL in my case because I have an incurable bladder disease called Interstitial Cystitis.  Constant inflamation of the bladder.  I have pain and would not want more pain due having GL surgery that would never go away.  I would like to hear from you again to see how things are going with you.  Pain of the GL surgery is a big issue in my case.

when I came to after surgery there was some discomfort but little pain.The urine bag was left in all night and removed the next morning.When the doctor pulled out the tube then there was great pain but only for a second.He gave me some pills for the pain that was to come.When I got home there was some blood at first and I thought I could not urinate but finally did and then there was pain,For the next few days I was in pain during urination but was able to return to work after only four days.Then there was no pain at all, I am trying to remember I guess in subsided after a week.I now go freely without forcing it out.The pictures of my bladder convinced me I did the right thing but this retrograde ejeculation bothers me and I am getting married to a younger woman.We both want children,I don't know how to tell her.I still have a few weeks of healing and now feel very well.

How are you doing thus far after having green light surgery other than retrograde ejeculation?  Your urologist should of told you about retrograde ejeculation.  I may have to have surgery on my prostate in near future and still not sure what I am going to do.  The retrograde ejeculation would not bother me just as long as the surgery went ok and any pain after long after the surgery has been done.  How is it going for you as far as pain after the surgery?  I have been told that the recovery depends on the size of the prostate gland.  My prostate is about 45 grams in size.  I would like to hear from you if possible about the outcome of your green light surgery if possible.  Thank You,  Ron
