Yes, it is always good to not go out hungry. This helps us avoid temptation. I have also learned not to go out mad - anger fuels my hunger too.
I used to drink a lot of coffee and am down to one or two a day now and have eliminated the sugar in it. It took a while but I finally like coffee with just a bit of low fat milk in it. A little bit each day can be good for you.
How long it takes to withdraw will depend on how many cups per day you are drinking. A gradual withdrawal is best as going cold turkey can result in several days of awful headaches. I would eliminate a cup a week. Good luck!
I used to drink a lot of coffee also (2-3 pots full per day), which obviously was not good. In order to get off from it without a lot of side effects, I started buying a container of regular coffee and a container of decaf; I would then mix them together - at first more regular than decaf. I gradually added more decaf until I got it to about 1/2 and 1/2. That was before you could buy it already "blended" in the stores. Now both Maxwell House and Folgers have "half caf" coffee. That should help ease you off at a slower pace.
Good luck
In my opinion, I would ween off the coffee by taking caffeine pills instead and then gradually decrease the dosage each day. I would say bring it down 25mg each day starting at ? I don't know maybe 200mg 2 x day as it sounds like you drink a lot of coffee. You take your best guess and see what works. Maybe a few weeks to come off of caffeine.
Hi!
Medical research shows that the safe amount of caffeine is 300mg/day that wud be about 2-3 cups a day of coffe.
Caffeine is a stimulant and some studies show that small amounts of caffeine may increase your mental response time. Other studies show that the cognitive improvements and mood elevation may not really be due to the beneficial aspects of caffeine as much as ending the withdrawal symptoms we feel when we haven't had our morning "fix" yet.
Kicking the caffeine habit isn't so good either. Caffeine withdrawal can give you headaches, make you crabby, give you muscle aches and generally you may feel miserable for a few days. However, after a week or so, the withdrawal symptoms will pass.
So i wud recommend you do this slowly...but surely you will see the results!
Keep us postd here and we are more than glad to help you! Good luck :)
I agree! I've tried to quit my coffee before, several times. I always get those headaches.
I'm glad to read that 2-3 cups a day is OK. That is what I've been at for a long time now.
I drink it only in the morning, too. In the afternoon, I think a small healthful snack helps more, and without making me jittering all evening.
Try folgers singles decaf. I like the taste and plus if you make a whole pot of coffee, you;ll most likely drink it. The singles work fine for me. Plus there was some info about the decaf not being truly decaf. So you might be getting a little caffiend even though it says decaf. I have one reg. folgers single in the morning and one decaf in the afternoon. I use to drink a whole pot of reg. coffee in the morning. That was bad news, plus I use to get the jitters from all of the caffiene. I was a caffiene junky with bad headaches if I went without my coffee. I never drank any kind of instant coffee before, but the folgers singles are pretty good.
