5 :2 New Fast diet--anybody know about it?

So I have been eating healthy/exercising for the past 3 months and although I feel better and have some more energy, the scale hasnt moved much. I saw a diet on the news about where you eat what you want for 5 days and then only limit yourself to 500 calories on 2 days. Supposedly the people who try it say it works for them and also makes them less hungry on days that they can eat whatever they want. I would like to try it. When I heard about it yesterday it was only noon, and I hadn't eaten anything but breakfast. So I did a fasting day and ended up only eating about 650 calories yesterday. I went to bed rather early and had trouble sleeping on empty tummy, but I am willing to try it again today. Has anybody heard of this?Tried it?

Go for a better diet plan and if possibly go for a diet chart from a dietician!

I appreciate the solid advice. I have tried the exercise/diet thing for the past 3 months and haven't lost any weight : ( But I was able to sleep through the entire night last night after only eating 600-700calories. Surprisingly I didn't eat a huge breakfast ( my tummy couldn't take it) I just ate some toast, because I really wasn't that hungry. Not telling you to do it, but I am gonna stick with it for a while at least. I will let you know how it goes. You can let me know how yours goes, since we are already weight loss buddies on another page! ;)

To me, that would be considered a "fad" diet and I know, for me, it wouldn't work, because eating only 500 calories/day would leave me starving and ready to devour whatever I found that was edible.

If you're going to bed hungry, you aren't going to sleep well and sleep has a huge bearing on weight loss.

I've just been diagnosed with pre-diabetes, and I'm learning to eat several small meals/day in order to keep blood sugar levels constant. Don't go to bed hungry, because you'll only wake up twice as hungry and will be ready to eat everything but the kitchen sink and some days, that might not look so bad...... LOL

Any time you have trouble sleeping (for whatever reason), your weight loss will be sabotaged because restful sleep is essential to healthy weight loss.

Much better to come up with a diet/exercise plan that will work to cut/use calories.  Make it something you can stick with over the long haul.

That's what I'm going to be working on over the next few months.  We can work on it together, if you like.
